Chances for international student...

Hi!

First of all, i
m really sorry for my English, i know it
s quite a poor, and in advance i`m begging your pardon for my future mistakes (hope Mozilla's spell checking will help me a little bit :-)).

My daughter (she
s 15 now) is planning to apply to SPS, Phillips Andover, Deerfield or Milton.
We are from a small country, Azerbaijan Republic (one of the former USSR), she studies now in International school, in the 9th grade. It
s her first year in this school, previously she had also studied in English schools for 2 years, but the academic studies there were more British-Russian than purely American curriculum, that was the main reason why i moved her to the Baku International School this year. She had finished 2 terms at the moment, has total 3,96 GPA score. She has some awards for cross-country and football (school team), also paticipated in Model United Nations for 2 years, and this spring she'll also planning to go to Istambul (with her school) to take part in another assembly of MUN.

So now we
re planning to finish 10-th grade in International School and try to enter boarding school in US in autumn 2011 for 11. How do you think, does we have chances? I know about SSAT exam, we don
t have it in our country, so have to go to Moscow, Istambul or Dubai in autumn 2010 (planning to prepare for the exam during summer holidays). We don
t want to ask for financial aid, course i
m afraid it could minimize our chances and also there are a lot of problems with taxes documents in our country.
I
m worring about interview course we don
t have opportunity to visit so many schools in US, though i know they could interview through Skype, but of course to speak personally much better and advantegeous.

What do you think about our chances? What could and should we do to enhance them?

Thanx a lot!

I don’t really know since I’m not applying for that grade level and I’m not applying as an international student, but I say she has a good chance. How is her English?

Thanx a lot!
It
s good, in previous school was A+, in the current A (because they don
t have honor classes, the school is very small, only 180 student).

Well, her English should be really good. There’s ESL (English as a second Language). Try apply her there before going to the School. It will help her better

Thanx! I know that some of the schools from our list require TOEFL exam also in addition to SSAT exam, so we are planning to prepare to it during summer holidays.
During 3 years she studies in English schools, English there is the first language, all the subjects are teaching in English, except of foreign language lessons like Russian and French.
