Chances for Iowa State?

The majority of my anticipation is due to the fact that my gpa is pretty bad.
Intended Major: CS/Software Engineering

ACT: 26
32 English, 25 Math, 23 Reading, 25 Science

I advise anyone reading this to please, shield your eyes... GPA: 2.78 out of 4.0 unweighted. However, I do show a massive upward trend, as in my junior year I received A's and a total of 3 B's.
ECs: Volunteer work, and Career oriented volunteering at an electronics company... I also self-taught myself piano and basic programming...(Can I include this?)

Courseload this year: AP Stat, Hon. anatomy & physiology, Internet and Networking (college credits received), Microsoft Office (college credits received), and cinema studies/college prep. writing.
-The first semester of my senior year will be ending in a week, and my gpa is expected to go up to around 2.85-2.95.
-I do not yet have a class rank, but will once the semester is over. I've asked around, and was surprised to find a student that had a 3.0 and was in the top 32% ( high schools just don't get as prestigious as this, folks) so I could expect my class rank to be above the top 40%.

I know that Iowa State uses the RAI index to determine if a student qualifies for automatic admission and my unofficial RAI is around 260. My concern is that I think this only applies to In-state Iowa students.

What do you guys think?

From my knowledge of Iowa State, they accept anything that walks and breathes. This isn’t anything against the school; one of my siblings goes there and his experience has been excellent.

Your ACT is well above average and while your GPA is low, it shouldn’t get in the way of your admission. If you get denied, I would recommend emailing admissions and ask for them to consider your upward trend.

Iowa State: Low match
