<p>Hey guys this is my first post , but I would like to gauge my chances of being accepted at a school in the Ivy League. I know it is early but just wanted to test the waters.I am entering my junior year in New Jersey. I am Colombian and moved to the United States in 2004 ,so Spanish is my first language. I also have a condition called a left hemiparesis which causes a physical disability. Here are some of my credentials:
GPA: 4.00 UW and 4.46W(perfect GPA;explanation- maximum possible out of 4.5 because of requirements for regular courses)
SAT: PSAT- 220
SAT II- Bio-760
Class Rank- School does not rank ;I would be first ranked out of 500.
I have been in the local Gifted and Talented program since 3rd grade, so I am one year ahead in both math and science
AP classes: Sophomore Year- Bio
Junior Year- US, Psychology, BC Calculus, Physics B
Senior Year(pending)-Literature, Chem,Stat,Euro,Gov and Politics, French
Overall course load-other than state requirements for regular classes in eight grade and freshman year( Biology1 and English1), all classes are honors and AP with Luch skipped sophomore year in order to increase course load</p>
<p>Awards: National French Contest- 2nd nationally freshman year, 3rd in the state sophomore year
English Department award- recognition for outstanding freshman writer(male winner). Not eligible sophomore year as one person cannot win consecutive years.
Merck Science Day- 2013-Biology-finished 3rd in the county
National French Honor Society
Probably NM scholar next year
Extra- Curriculars- Treasurer for Pay it Forward Club in school as well as co-founder
French Club member for three years-possible vice-president next year
Youth and Government- model state legislature where i earned a position as chair of a committee
Model United Nations- second year upoming. Currently I am a youth secretariat which makes me a liason between the students and officers.
Volunteer work and Occupation- Internship for 4 months at a local law firm, summer work at a law firm every summer in Colombia as well as providing food for the poor in rural areas of Colombia. The total volunteering hours during summer breaks is about 100 hours.
During the school year I tutor in Mathematics and Sciences for students grades 6-12 with enough revenue to have to register with the IRS</p>
<p>N.B- As far as recommendations, do you guys recommend definitely a junior year teacher because I have a sophomore teacher who has told me that I am the top student he has had in the last 20 years and says, " If I ever win the lottery, I am paying for your tuition at Harvard."</p>
<p>Here are some of my top choices for political science:
Harvard-
Yale-
Princeton(top choice)-
Chicago-
Georgetown-
Cornell-
Brown-
Michigan-</p>
<p>I am an extremely ambitious person, and although I have not taken my SATs yet I am entering a 3 week program at Yale University for SAT preparation, so I would predict somewhere between a 2250-2400 .Considering I am hispanic, many of my peers have told me that I may have a chance at a top school so I would just appreciate an outside opinion.
Thank you all for your time</p>
