Chances for Ivy

First of all you have to understand a couple of things. I come from Argentina, we don't have most awards you do and my school had 0 clubs (really zero). We only had olympiads and I participated in all of them more or less xD.
I've taken a gap year, I'm currently looking for a proper job but well, Argentina's economy sucks at the moment.

GPA AND CLASS RANK
9.3/10 (3.72 GPA) which is extremely hard because here they grade you with a pass/fail and then they randomly give you a grade from 1-10 so some are truly random.
Class rank would be 13/1000 (we are an enormous school)

COURSE LOAD:
We can't choose our courseload, we have to choose between four different subdivisions of the school and I chose Business not because I love it but because it's the hardest.

STANDARDIZED TESTS
-SAT: 2140 (650 CR 690 W 800 M) (first time, will take again in October)
-SAT 2's: took them a couple of days ago, 800 for both Math 2 and Bio M for sure

WORK:
-Been working as a private tutor and it's quite profitable actually. Started one year ago.

EXTRACURRICULARS:
-Every olympiad including biology, science, math, accountancy and physics.
-First place at national Science Olympiad
-International Science Olympiad in 2008 in Korea
-USABO equivalent. International Biology Olympiad last year in Taiwan, won a Bronce (top 100 )

VOLUNTEER:
-Pet shelter for 4 years now (love those little things :P)
-Since the time I got back from Taiwan I decided to help the next group of biology olympiad participants and I am still doing it this year even though I've graduated already.

AWARDS:
-I was one of the two students at my school who got a distinction for science. Remember we are 1000 students :P

TEACHER RECS:
-One of them is amazing, he really knows me so he is writting a lot about my passion for biology
-Second one not sure yet, the teacher loves me but I think english is not her forte

That's about it! I know it is not A LOT, like most people but the thing is my school didn't offer much because colleges here don't care about all of these things: you just take a test and pay. Thats all.

Thank you in advance!!

I’d say you have a much better chance than I do. Your awards are impressive.

Forgot to add where I’m applying:

-Harvard
-Yale
-Dartmouth
-Cornell
-Georgetown
-UPenn
-Duke

I’ll Chance back!

Are you going to need financial aid (since you’re applying international)? Without taking that into account I think you have fairly good shots at georgetown and cornell. Dartmouth, Penn, and Duke are all possibilities but Harvard and Yale might be a strech. I’m assuming that you’re aiming for a 2300+ on the SAT which should help. Getting financial aid from these colleges might not go so well but you never know. Good luck!

Low reaches, except HYP are unlikely.

I agree that ECs and volunteering are weak. Still, I think you have a great chance at HYP. One thing that will be taken into account is your background, or in other words, what is available to you. Your awards are impressive, and you show initiative because you do everything that is offered at your school and you do show dedication to what you do.

I’m bad at concluding things, so yeah. You have a chance.

OH YEAH. Also, if you’re a junior, then you should start a club at your school based on your interests. It’s extremely fun to do (you get to meet new people, hang out with old ones, discuss similar interests, and spend hours and hours doing what you like best, all at the same time), and it also looks impressive since your school doesn’t offer any clubs. So yeah. Initiative.

Ftw.

Thanks guys!
Just getting into one of them would be amazing, it would be a dream come true actually :)
