<p>I talked to my counselor and he said I was "borderline" for Virginia Tech and James Madison University, two of my top choices. Can anyone give any input? Here is my data:</p>
<p>Major: International Studies/Affairs
GPA: 3.7 Weighted (Although my grades improved over all four years)
- Freshman: 3.42
- Sophomore: 3.42
- Junior: 3.8
- Senior: 4.1 - so far...
SAT: 1880/2400 (600 CR, 680 Math, 600 Writing)
ACT: 28 Composite (30 English, 28 Math)
Took three years of German
In-State (Fairfax County)
AP's: 11th Grade - AP Music Theory (A), AP U.S. History (B). 12th Grade - AP Psychology (A-), AP Government (A-)
Honor's Classes: Took all available honor's except for English classes.
Tons of community service, including tutoring and working with homeless.
EC: National Honor Society, Marching Band and Concert Band all four years, Indoor Drumline in 10/11th grade, Star Scout (Boy Scouts), my church's Youth Group, Babe Ruth Baseball.
Ethnicity: White (unfortunately ethnicity does factor in lol)</p>

<p>I don’t know what your counselor is talking about … I think you have a solid chance of getting into Tech … as long as the gpa you showed is unweighted lol … im not sure what i read. Madision … ummm not sure, cause im not too familar with the admissions.</p>
<p>thanks to both of ya! and bnatsfan7, i actually did apply to GMU also and got accepted, but i’m not 100% sure on the major tho (plus it’s five minutes from home, which is a negative for me haha).</p>
<p>My brother attends JMU, and I think your credentials aren’t much different than his were, so I think you have a solid chance at that ! Thanks for chancing me btw :)</p>
