Please chance me? (Yet another one of these threads, I'm sorry!)

I applied to Virginia Tech, James Madison, and George Mason. I am in Northern VA.

SAT: 1850/2400, 1230/1600
GPA: 3.6 weighted (had a 4.1 for freshman and sophomore year, dropped during junior year-personal reasons. COMPLETE anomaly. my GC explained this in the Secondary School Report Forms)
Current GPA for senior year (4 AP classes and French 5): 3.9 weighted
(so my freshman, sophomore, and senior year are mostly As. it was just my junior year that I messed up.)
7 APs/all honors throughout high school, scored 4s on three AP exams

ECs:
-President of French National Honor Society, 11th-12th grade
-FHNS, 10th grade- present
-French Club, 9th grade-present
-Worked as a front desk receptionist at a doctor's office, sept.-dec. 2011
-Varsity Tennis, 3 years
-National Honor Society, 10th grade- present
-Cast member/stage crew for 7 plays/musicals, 9th-11th grade

I am so nervous and stressed out. What do you think my chances are for these schools? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you so much!

I will personally visit any of schools that you have listed and call out the admissions officer if you didn’t get in because with your stats, you should be considering these schools as safeties.

lakeawead, you just made my night! thank you so much  I messed up last year though and as a result, I personally think my GPA is a little too low for VT and maybe even a little low for JMU. but I really appreciate it!

Wait…what? An 1850 on the SAT and your calling Virginia tech a safety? An I missing something here…

I was thinking along the same lines as Mango15 but with George Mason, especially when I saw that your GPA was weighted. Unweighted that would be a good GPA, but not weighted. You do have decent ECs though. I’m sorry, but I would be VERY nervous for you.

If your GPA UW is above 3.1, I would not sweat it, especially because you are in-state. Looking back VT stats, it was easier to get into last time I checked, but I think you would still get in.

I’m sorry I was thinking of another school. Yes your SAT scores are high for all of these schools do they should compensate for your low GPA. You are in the high 50% for these schools so that is a good prospect. You should get into atleast one. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding!

Now if he/she had mentioned UVA or William and Mary, that would have been a different story.

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. Yeah, I never considered W&M or UVA. My unweighted GPA is a 3.3, and my junior year is the only one that isn’t mostly As. Thanks!

3.3 is actually not too bad for these schools. It shouldn’t be a major drawback.
