The person above obviously doesn’t know anything. Neither Berkeley, Chicago, JHU, or Vanderbilt are matches for anyone! And even if you do ED at johns hopkins, its still isn’t a match. Your Ec’s and gpa look pretty much on par for all of those schools except maybe yale. Until I see you ACT score I can’t comment much though. All i can say is if you get 32< , you should be fine.

EC activities are okay. GPA is on par. Need test scores to tell you more, but they’re all reaches except for BU and Brandeis. This isn’t to say you don’t have a good shot at some (you should definitely try), but it’s not a solid given.

Well your GPA is decent but if you can get at least a 32 on the ACT you should stand a chance. Your ECs are also pretty good.
JHU - reach
Yale - high reach
UChic - low reach
Northwestern - reach
Vandy - reach

@ShowMeState700 I looked at your post and your music accolades are really impressive! I’ve played with the Nashville Symphony a few times, and my teacher is the assistant concertmaster of the Nashville Symph. I’m applying for Brevard and Eastern Music Festival this summer, and I think you should also consider applying.

Johns Hopkins, Yale, Uchicago, Northwestern, Vandy, BU, Brandeis, Berkeley

Okay first of all taking the SAT should be a must! Most schools want to see the SAT over the ACT or at least both so consider that. Looking at your grades, they are good but for the amount of AP’s you are taking, they don’t aren’t outstanding. Your EC’s are not outstanding and your awards are very specific and could help if you consider a school for music. I’d say Yale and Chicago are high reaches and Northwestern is a reach but possibly depending on your score. Vanderbilt is a definite possibility being in-state so you have a good chance there. Berkeley is a match as well as your scores fit their averages. I can’t really comment on BU or Brandeis. MD should be your safety school. Now for JHU… I live near the school and know how difficult it is to get into. I think you can do it with your GPA and if you can get your ACT score at least 30 then you should be good!

Yeah, Yale’s accept rate is ~6% and UChicago’s is ~8%. NW, Vandy, and JHU are easier at the mid-teens but certainly not a guarantee. I think you’re in at BU and Brandeis.
