Chances for lehigh engineering

So i was wondering on what my chances for lehigh engineering was? I will be early decisioning. I have visited the campus, haven't had an interview yet but plan on it. My dad, sister and three uncles went to lehigh. My dad and his brothers were wrestlers, and my one uncle is hall of famed. I got a 590 on CR and a 590 on Math. I have a 3.9 Gpa and am ranked 8th out of 180 students. I am on the varsity football and volleyball team. I am on national honor society, am involved in science fair ( FIRST PLACE STATE), chemistry olympiad, science olympiad, Jets, retreat team, and do volunteer work at dream come true. I am in all AP and honor classes, and work 20hrs a week. Any advice?? Thanks!!

Your profile looks pretty good. Legacy status and early decision will always help. Your extracurricular activities, sports, work experience and volunteering look good. Your GPA and rank are good. You’ve shown interest in the university which will help. The only red flag for me is your SAT scores, both of which are lower than Lehigh’s middle fifty percent range. I’d really encourage you to try and raise those scores (or try the ACT) especially for the college of engineering where scores (especially math) tend to be a bit higher than the other colleges.

Yea I think you have really good chances now but like NullSpace said the SATs are a little low. But really I think even with those scores you’ll be fine.

thanks. like you both said i think my sat’s are my only downfall. i am retaking them in october, and may take the acts in september but am not sure. What would be an ideal score for me to get considering i only have a 590 on both but within reason? Also, should i definitely interview/ visit again? im local so people find it odd for me to even visit once

I’d say aim for a combined 1300. The higher, the better, obviously.

You don’t need to tour campus again if you did so already (and signed in). If you want to go on an engineering tour (and didn’t already) or meet with the faculty, doing so might help. As for the interview, I didn’t interview, and I got in; however, it never hurts to put in a little extra effort if you can. It can only help your chances.

It’s exactly because you’re local that Lehigh expects you to visit. If you show zero interest, and you live near Lehigh, they’ll flat out reject you. However, since you applied ED, have visited, and have alumni relations, I’d say you’re probably good to go with respect to showing interest.
