Her stats put her in the top 25% of admitted students so merit is very likely.

You will just have to wait and see. NEU has been moving in the direction of providing need based aid primarily. I know that one of the more generous merit awards no longer exists.

Your daughter has excellent stats…so hopefully she will see some merit aid.

And if she is engineering, will she do their co-op program? If so, this will help, as well as give her great work experience as well.

The co-op program is something she’d definitely do. She also prefers a college of engineering within a larger university. She would also love to go to school in Boston. We have other opportunities for aid through my husband’s job at a college (Tuition Exchange) but NEU does not participate. She is only likely to attend NEU if there is some amount of merit aid.

Have you thought of Harvard and schools of that ilk? Generally these schools offer 100% of need and your daughter’s stats fit any school.

@TerpDad888 Schools of that ilk have 5% acceptance rates and the aid is all need based, no merit aid. Since the OP is inquiring about merit aid they may not qualify for need based aid.

My stats were lower than yours (except for SAT). I got merit aid at Northeastern ($15k). This was 9 years ago. I think you should get merit aid.

9 years ago the average SAT was 196 points lower.

My D (white F, PA) got $15,000 EA 2 years ago with slightly lower stats than your D. Her classmate, M with stats much like your D’s, was awarded $22,000 (IIRC). Hope that helps.

That helps very much. Thank you!

She is applying to Cornell’s College of Engineering, Early Decision.

I think she has an excellent chance of being admitted - best of luck.
