What are my chances for Middlebury, Brown, or other schools of similar caliber? What can I do to increase my chances? Thanks!

Can you play tennis at the college level?

Your grades are fine, SATs will neither help nor harm you.You need a way to separate yourself from the pack of qualified applicants-a fab essay, recs that say you are memorable or really exceptional, and an underlying theme “Why Midd” or whatever other school you are applying to.

I’d prolly do something with the UN theme, as it seems your strongest point.

You appear qualified, but it’s a crap shoot.

Thanks for the advice!

You really need top 10% to be a serious contender.

^^^Agree. Both my boys top 5% but at a public school…We can argue whether it is fair or not, but being able to play a sport(or for that matter perform in an ensemble) gives you a boost.

Not necessarily, especially students from well respected prep schools.
14% of Midd students were not in the top 10% percent of their class-- 10% were not in the top quarter.

Mostly recruited athletes, development kids, legacies, URMs, and kids with a serious hook.

Are your GPAs backwards? Lower weighted than unweighted? Just wondering.

I think you have a shot although the class rank hurts a bit. Does your school actually rank or is that just a rough estimate? You can get in if you’re top 15% but it is much harder.

How much would applying early to either of these schools help? Are there any statistics that should be worked on (my SAT? Perhaps getting math up to a 710-740?)? Also, I did mix up the GPAs, sorry about that. Thanks for all the helpful advice!
