Chances for MIT?

Hi, I am a current junior and wanted to know my chances for MIT? (Korean-American male)

All GPA's listed are weighted

GPA Freshman Year: 4.00

GPA Sophomore Year: 4.33

Total: 2380 (single sitting)

SAT Subject Tests: Chemistry (800), Math IIc (800), Biology (660) <- epic fail
About Biology: I'm not good at memorizing things. I consider myself more of a problem solver.

AP Classes (taking currently): AP Statistics, AP computer science, AP US History, AP Biology

AP Classes to be taken senior year: AP Calculus BC, AP World History, AP English

I plan on applying Early Action.

I have a passion for mathematics and computer science which I hope will come out in my application. My recommendations should be great. One of them is from my professor who taught me both computer science and mathematics who likes me a lot. The other is from my Honors Pre-Calc teacher who went to M.I.T. for both undergraduate school and graduate school and is known for writing great recommendations.

Going to participate in USACO so we shall see how that goes..

The greatest chance that everyone has before the Pi Day, I believe, is always below 10%, which is the admitted rate of MIT annually. However you should be confident in your intellectual ability and your EC (if it were not MIT but another prestigious school, I would have said “you have a great shot!!!”), no need to take SAT again  Just make sure that your application will be great and reveal well your true self
Btw, I’m int’l so I’m not familiar with the AP courses in the US. You know, MIT highly appreciates those who dare to study the hardest courses regardless of grades. So does anyone have any advice on this for him?

Don’t sweat the biology SAT II, they won’t consider it. They’ll take your 800 in chemistry instead. I would have said about 10%, but then I read the research thing you did. I still say about 10%, unless you can really comunicate your passion in this field (you could use the research and summer program for this).

Which are your Free Software projects? Which GNU/Linux distribution do you use?
I have the bases of C programming but I didn’t study it in deep because school and sport.

I posted this thread under my brother’s account by accident, this is my account

Anyways, to answer your question…

When software companies come out with beta versions of stuff and want users to test them, I help with that as well as with analyzing some source code for potential sources of error.

I use crunchbang linux, which is a variation of Ubuntu with an OpenBox desktop environment. It is way more lightweight than Ubuntu (which as we all know, users the Gnome DE) and feels more responsive.

C is a great language to learn

Great to see you’re into open source! Tell us more about your projects! I’m interested.

I’ve been using Linux too for a while (delving into the kernel source recently), and right now I use Arch Linux. I’ve worked on a few software projects, mostly games (math+physics+cs fun) and similar things, in my free time. If you have the time, do check out [my website](http://nikki93.github.com/)!
