Chances for my schools?

<p>Current HS Junior, hoping to major in either Meteorology/some sort of IT major, but will probably apply undecided to the following:</p>

<p>Penn State, NC State, UNC-Asheville(safety school), University of Miami (FL), Florida State, and Mississippi State, and maybe VMI, but thats a different story.</p>

<p>Also, if you have any suggestions for a nice small private college to apply to (besides Miami) I'm all ears, tuition costs are not necessarily a factor, I'd like to have the most to chose from come decision time</p>

<p>Junior in a class of 323, public high school in North Carolina
ranked 9/323 (top 3%)
UW GPA: 3.88, W GPA: 4.67
SAT: 1630, ACT 23 composite (retaking SAT in May and in September senior year. Thats my first time score from January, probably won't retake the ACT)
1 "B" in 5 semesters of high school, all A's otherwise
Completed 3 AP classes, currently enrolled in 1 - passed APUS Gov w/ a 4</p>

<h2>Senior schedule to include 2 years of German, and 3 or 4 more AP classes</h2>

<p>Extracurricular:
I work a job at a grocery store about 20 hours a week (time consuming!)
I am a member of our schools soccer team for all of my 3 years, first two on JV, varsity this past year
JV Captain of soccer sophomore year
National Science Honors society member
Student advisory committee member
(probably) National Honors Society member - our school doesn't decide until the end of this year
Volunteer experience this past summer working at soccer camps,doing youth soccer camps for our schools soccer program as well ~ 60 hours total
Selected as a Junior Marshall for the graduation ceremony this year</p>

<p>I’m from Florida, and I would say that you’re pretty much guarenteed a spot at FSU. UM might be a bit of a reach with your SAT score. You should probably bring it up, because if you manage around 1900 you would qualify for significant merit at FSU.</p>

<p>Thanks for the reply, thats good to hear. It killed me that North Carolina made all HS juniors take the ACT before I had taken Pre-cal/Trig, when theres trig on the ACT!</p>

<p>I think you are good for Asheville for sure, and probably a couple of others on your list like FSU. The one thing that’s working against you is your ACT score, I might dedicate some time to bringing it up. I think if you could get that up into the 26+ range (or the equivalent SAT), all of the remaining schools would be matches or low reaches.</p>
