Chances for OSU admissions

My son has applied to OSU for fall 2013. He has a uw 3.5 GPA and working on bumping his ACT up 12/12. He expects to get at least a 28 given the prep tutoring he is doing. He applied engineering, but now wants business. Will he have a better chance of admissions to engineering or business? How/when do we let OSU know? Is it better to do that prior to evaluation or after acceptance? BTW, he is also being recruited for the swim team there. The coach did not think he would need help with admissions. This is son's top choice and is putting everything into this one school.

In-state or out-of-state?

out of state

In order for your son to be a competitive applicant, I would suggest he scores at least a 30 on the ACT. His GPA is probably average for the average freshman applicant at OSU. He needs to shine with his ECs, essay, and a higher ACT score. Keep in mind it’s already difficult for him to gain admittance because he’s an OOS student.

Best of luck to you and your son.
