My son will be applying to the engineering school for Fall 2014. We live OOS, from New Jersey. He has a 3.91 gpa weighted, 1350 SAT (720 math). Honors classes and 3 AP classes this year including calc, physics and Statistics. Soccer, 2 years wind symphony and after school work experience since sophmore year. We were wondering how competitive it is to get in the engineering school, and possibly the Scholars Program as well. Any responses greatly appreciated.

Our son is a freshman this year, and we are also OOS…Massachusetts…He had a 3.7gpa, 760 math SAT, and same 3 AP as your son. He was accepted into the College of Engineering, and Honors Program. He also received the National Buckeye Scholarship. He didn’t apply for the Scholars program, so I’m not quite sure what was involved in applying for that. He is living in an Honors dorm on campus, and they do offer a couple of specific classes for Honors Engineering. His major right now is Computer Science.
