Hi everyone.im an American citizen, but currently doing high school in india (CBSE).
I would like to major in computer engineering,or computer science
my grade9 marks are

CGPA-8.8
MATH B2
SCIENCE A2
SOCIAL STUDIES A2
ENGLISH A2
FRENCH A2

GRADE 10 CGPA-9.2
MATH B1
SCIENCE A2
ENGLISH A1
FRENCH A1
SOCIAL STUDIES A2

MY GRADE 11 marks are pretty low… 67% (B2) average
chemistry-81 A2
physics-67 B2
maths-44 C2
English-69 B2
computer science-73 B1

What are my chances of getting admitted at any of these universities??I haven’t taken SAT yet,but how high should I aim to get admitted with a decent amount of financial aid for computer engineering??
THANKS IN ADVANCED!!

boost ur grades up senior yr, take the sat make sure u get a high score. I have a friend who goes to osu nd he told me that test scores are most important.

B2 is low for engineering and C2 is a problem.
To have a shot, get a high SAT score and apply before November. If you can start at the end of June, tick “alternative: summer session”.

Unfortunately, ur right,my grade 11 marks are definitely a problem , But since I only plan on applying after I get my grade 12 marks(next may) would my grade 11 marks still significantly impact my admission?? after grade 12 I plan on taking a couple of AP tests and subject tests, which I should be able to do well since we learn most of there topics at school.I also plan on applying to a few Canadian universities(I’m a Canadian resident) ,any suggestions??On most Canadian schools websites grade 11 mark are not a “requirement”.all they want is grade 10 certificate(which has both grade 9 and 10 marks) and grade 12 certificate(which does not mention grade 11 marks),could u guys chance me for a few canadain colleges( u of t,ubc, mcmaster etc),THANKS IN ADVANCED!!

I was also wondering if you guys could list these colleges from easiest to hardest to get in(for computer engineering), umass Amherst, virginia tech, maryland college park, penn state, osu, purdue, michigan state,BU???

THANK IN ADVANCED!!!

Are you saying you’d apply for Fall 2018?

yes, I’m planning on taking a gap year and apply for fall 2018,(I graduate in may 2017)

Grades 9-12 will be considered at some colleges, while at others only grades from 9-11 will be considered alongside choice of classes for 12th. Your board results and SAT results will also be taken into account of course. Some universities will consider whether you’ve taken AP courses but won’t typically consider the scores.
You need to apply by the priority deadline at all of these.
You’re unlikely to receive merit aid at Penn State or Purdue, Maryland is pretty unlikely too due to competition and Ohio State perhaps but they’re rather stingy.
Your odds at Canadian universities are better but since they won’t look at your Year XI results but they’re not a given considering your Year XII aren’t in yet.
Start looking at universities such as Temple, UAlabama Tuscaloosa, UMiami-Ohio, Ohio University, UMass Amherst.

thanks MYOS1634!,is michigan state a very selective school???do they give much in the name of needbased/meritbased aid???thanks again!!!

Michigan State has a good honors college and if you manage high sat or act scores you should be absent get a merit scholarship, buy there’s no telling whether that’ll be sufficient.

hi again,Do u think that all the above colleges would admit me with an 85% i grade 12,and 2050 for sat??? could u classify them into reach, low match, high match etc.thanks again myos1634,your extremely helpful!!

Until you have your actual Year XII results + test scores, all are reaches.
