I was wondering what the chances are for me going to either Penn State or Pitt. Compared to many of you here, my accolades are poor but I still would like to know if I had a shot.

A little back story first (if it means anything). There were some personal problems that were going on at home during my sophomore and junior years. I was very distracted from my school work and my grades lacked because of that. Things started to pick up the last 9 weeks of my junior year though.

My GPA is just barely south of 3 and my SAT scores were 1590 (both are very disappointing).

As a senior, I am taking 3 AP classes, 2 CIHS (college in the high school; adapted classes from Duquesne University), and a leadership class that involves teaching younger grades.

Also as junior, I took the AP test for AP US Government and Politics, which I got a 5 on.

Finally, for what it's worth, I live in Pittsburgh.

If I do very well in all my classes and do better on my SAT, which is my plan, what are my chances of getting into Penn State or Pitt?
