If you're not sure about rice , what are my chances at carnegie mellon, swarthmore, Cornell, Johns hopkins, emory, univ of chicago, Vanderbilt, washington univ at st.louis, and william and mary?

Your GPA is a bit low, but the SAT might redeem you. Are you apply to the Shepherd School since you’re so involved in music? You might as well try applying – there’s no way you can get in otherwise!

If you apply early to Rice, you should get in. I think you’ll also be accepted at W&M and CMU. All of the other schools that you’ve chosen are slightly more selective, although I think that you’ll get into Cornell, Emory, and Vanderbilt. UChicago and Swarthmore are the most selective.

If it counts for anything, my ACT was a 34, my SAT was a 2310, and my unweighted GPA was a 3.5 (very similar stats to yours, apparently). I was accepted by Rice, William and Mary, Emory, and Vanderbilt, and I was rejected by Swarthmore. I’ll be attending Vanderbilt in the fall. I didn’t apply to any of the other schools on your list. Don’t let the GPA get you down!
