What do I really need to work on? Do I need to retake my SAT's?

Thanks!

Well, the GPA is low, but class rank is good so that might make up for it somewhat, I’m not really sure how that will be viewed but you’re almost at top 5%. Is there any chance you could move up the 35th? That would put you in the top 5%, but really there isn’t too big a difference.

You should also work on bringing the SAT up a little. Your CR+M is in the right range, but your writing is low. Don’t worry too much though, because writing can easily be brought up by studying grammar rules, I think it’s actually the easiest to fix.

The biggest problem I see are your lack of ECs. On the common app they’re going to ask how much time each took, and from what I can tell you’ll have almost no ECs when it’s not football season, which is most of the year. Do you have any more ECs you just didn’t include? Or a job that could explain why you weren’t doing much?

The GPA will go up senior year with more AP classes. I am pretty sure I can get to top 5%. Thanks for the advice on the SAT, that makes sense. I study & play basketball (rec) off season, so my EC history is very weak. Football practice & season lasts March- Dec. I don’t see how I can fix my EC record, since I have to apply before my next off-season. Any suggestions? Teen advisory met once per month, I completed Virtual school electives this spring & volunteered.

All the things you mentioned count as ECs, so just make sure you include them.
