Hey,

I just applied to CMU SCS EDII. Here's my rap-sheet:

GPA:
3.75 UW 4.11 W. Did relatively poorly in 10th grade, had straight A's (4.0) in 11th and have straight A's in 12th as well.

Class rank: 14 out of 55. My school is pretty competitive. Nothing like Stuyvesant, but probably in the top 5% of schools in the country. It's a tiny school in New Hampshire though so I doubt many colleges have ever heard of it.

SATs - 730CR 740M 800W
SAT IIs - Math iic: 800 - Chemistry: 680 (bad?) - US History: 770

APs:
English Language and Composition: 5
US History: 5
Calculus AB: Unknown, taking this year
Computer Science A: Same as above
Literature: Same as above

But I'll be all pretentious and predict 5s on all of them as well.

I took every AP class that my school offers except for Enviro Sci. I also took one (Comp Sci) online since my school didn't offer it.

For sports I did one season each year. No real distinction.
I've done probably about 80 hours of community service. 45 more if being a teacher's aid counts.

My course load is the most difficult available at my school.

I'm currently working on this: Metaneva - Open Source Analytical Workbench for the Cognitive Sciences
Which shows an interest in computer science and an ability to work well with a pretty professional group of people (if they look that far into it).

My essays are probably a bit better than average for CMU. I've got a lot more verbal aptitude than most of my friends with similar aspirations (who, don't get me wrong, are math brainiacs).

My teacher recommendations are average at worst. I'd think that they too are a bit better than average but that's more difficult to judge.

I'm a white male from a middle class family. No legacy.

I'm president of my class.
And I'm vice president of the investment club, which I'm also in first place in with a 40% overall profit.

I've worked two jobs. One of them was with my father and one other guy processing firewood for sale. The other was being a do-it-all at a local convenience store.

I've won several school awards for being 1st in several AP classes. I've won no regional or national or ... international awards.

I also visited the campus and had an interview, which went well (although I tripped and fell on my way out. Which I've no doubt looked pretty dumb, lol)

That's about all I can think of for now.

Thanks for reading this. Be honest, and cross your fingers for me. I'm crossing mine for you :) (whether you're applying or not, lol)
