Chances for Top LACs? Will Chance back

Yes, it’s actually weird. My stats don’t match up with Emory very strongly, but a very large portion of students from school got in with similar to worse stats. I think it’s because of my high school, or possible favor disposition toward local applicants.

Well, Emory has a special undergraduate college called Oxford College in Emory. It has a 58% acceptance rate, versus a twenty-something rate for the school proper. So maybe they got in there? ;p

No it was purely Emory main campus (Oxford data was in a different set,) this is actually something of an interesting trend I’ve noticed for some schools (mostly off of naviance.) The overall average weighted gpa of admits from my school was 94% (the way my school calculates raw gpa) with a 2040 SAT and 1360 core. I’m not sure exactly why this is the case, but I for acceptance from Emory given the trend within my high school.

Though it seems something kinda meant for another thread, I’d also be interested to hear any theories as to why this would be the case, and if it is from a flaw in the statistical record posted on the naviance system, or if it reflects a certain favoring of geographic region or specific school on the side of Emory admissions.

also, given my stats, does New College seem a good “safety” and Occidental “low match?”
