Anyone???

MIT: Significant Reach
Penn, Chicago, Brown: Moderate Reach

UMich: low reach if OOS, match if in-state

In at GT, New College

Friedman, What makes me a moderate reach for Chicago as opposed to a significant reach for MIT?

Not disagreeing, just wondering

I think your Math, Science scores and grades just aren’t MIT-caliber, but overall aren’t that bad. That’s why schools like Penn, Chicago, and Brown might be easier.

Brother applied to HYPSM and got into YPM. Your objective stats seem a bit low for the top tier schools such as MIT and Chicago and Brown. A 3.75 is really low when you are looking at great schools. That said, you still have a bit of time to bring it up just a little, and I think that some amazing essays could do the trick for you.

For UMich CoE, you will be high match to low reach due to low GPA. ACT would be around 60% (75% for LSA).

Do colleges like these count high school classes taken in middle school on GPA? Because if not then my GPA is a 3.89, if that helps.

↑ No. Many don’t even count freshman classes.
With 3.89 GPA, it would be a match for UMich, but the acceptance rate is ~30% for OOS.

You don’t seem math/science focused, so for MIT, I’d say significant reach as well. I’d say moderate reach for Chicago, since they’re more “all around” than MIT so far as math/sci. I don’t know enough about the other schools to comment. What’s your major?

MIT would be high reach.
