Chances for top tier Boarding Schools.

Hi I know lots of people are not a fan of chancing people its just I was wondering if people could tell me if I realistically have a hope of getting into Groton, Deerfield, Andover, Hotchkiss, Middlesex or Choate. I currently go to a pretty well known independent school in CT that has a very strong relationship with Choate (basically 1/3rd of the graduating class goes to Choate).
My grade from 7th were
Honors French A-
Science A+
Honors Algebra I (8th grade level) B+
Humanities A
Latin A

This year so far it looks like my grades will probably be
Honors French A
Science A+
Honors Geometry I A-/A (however I took a test to day which might lower that grade)
Latin A-/B+
History (no Idea I have barely received any work back but the teacher loves me)
English A/A+

Extra Curricular's:
I play 3 baroque recorders at a high level but would probably transfer to Oboe at BS. I have been the Female lead in my school play twice (which is well known for being "very professional"). I am the Goalie on my school Lacrosse team and I play Squash. I am also the head of the Amnesty International club at my school and am a member of Yearbook, Literary Magazine and Community service. I am also doing a small group community service project to help refugees in my town.

Other info:
I am a dual citizen of the US and UK
I am Full Pay

Interviews:
Groton: Incredible, the AO told my Dad I was an "Intellectual"
Andover: Really great and fun but with the music director not an AO so I am worried it wont be worth as much
Hotchkiss: Good but a little flat again with a teacher but my Mom said she seemed to really like me
Middlesex: Amazing with an Alum-ish person she said that I was able to explain why I wanted to go to Boarding School better than nearly any other interviewee
Deerfield & Choate: Coming Soon

SSAT's: I am taking it this weekend my school high school counselor said from my ERB's which were all high 90th percentile I should do well, and I have studied alot.

I know all the schools I am looking at are top tier but I have a viable 9th grade option in place in case I don't get in.
Thank you for your time!

As you probably already know, your stats are good and would be right in line for any of those schools. That being said, you just never know. My son had stats that were lower than yours, but is currently at Groton. You just never know just what each school is looking for. I would bet that you will get into at least one of the schools to which you are applying, probably more than one. Which ones, I have no idea! just do your best and it should all work out fine.

@Momto4kids‌ You said your son got into Groton. First, Congrats and Second, what do you think weighed most int their decision? (SSAT Percentile, GPA, Teacher Rec, Essays, Interview, Stats, EC’s)

Thank you of the school I hav visited Groton is my first choice so its nice to know I am not totally out of my league.

I think that the schools are looking to make sure that kids can handle the academic load. As a result, the candidate must meet academic minimums. I think that many candidates meet those minimums. There are some candidates who stand out because they exceed those minimums and others who stand out as a result of other factors such as athletics, music or volunteer experience. One other factor that they say they are looking for is compassionate and persons of character. I think that my son met the academic minimums and was then chosen because he had ECs that they needed that year as well as showing a compassionate nature. This is why everyone says that you just never know. It is very possible that he wouldn’t have been admitted at a different admission cycle. Apply to numerous schools, they will each be looking for kids with different stats to round out their class.
Kids often make the mistake of thinking that a super high SSAT score is a guarantee of admittance. There is so much more that is involved in putting together a class!

I too have a child at Groton and was there this past weekend for parents weekend. What struck me most about the kids there is that they are all involved in many aspects of the school. I believe that the school is not looking for a math or music genius who will not be able to add to the community because all their classes will be tutorials. Instead, they want students who are interested in learning as opposed to just wanting top grades or admission to an ivy league college. I think Groton, as well as most other schools, are looking for students who have demonstrated their character in some way and who will be good citizens in a small community. Applicants with perfect GPAs and SAT scores are a dime a dozen and while those may put your application into a pile to be read more closely, you need to demonstrate something extra.

thanks Iron mom I that was really what impressed me most about Groton there seemed to be a focus on community.

I just receive my midterms and this year so far I am getting
Honors French A+ Effort, A Achievement (but is should raise the achievement grade to an A+ soon)
Science A Effort, A Achievement
Honors Geometry I A Effort, A- Achievement (this is a 9th grade honors level course)
Latin A Effort, A Achievement
History A Effort, A Achievement
English A Effort, A Achievement

I am updating this for myself I just want it to be updated with my current stats.

This years grades are
Honors French A+ Effort, A+ Achievement
Science A+ Effort, A+ Achievement
Honors Geometry I A Effort, A Achievement (this is a 9th grade honors level course)
Latin A Effort, A Achievement
History A Effort, A Achievement
English A Effort, A Achievement

and I have a 95 SSAT score

Congrats on everything! Everything looks awesome, so all I have to say now is GOOD LUCK!

thanks @mathman1201

I think you’re golden as long as your essays are strong.
