Chances for transfer, what do YOU think?

Transferring from community college for Spring '08
They are all CSUs, so no EC’s asked on the application
3.0 GPA with ~70ish units completed
Major: Civil Engineering

In order of desired school:

Cal Poly Pomona

CSU Long Beach

CSU Los Angeles

CSU Fullerton

CSU Northridge

CSU San Francisco (already accepted)

Civil Eng is not impacted at Pomona. No one posted getting accepted there with around my gpa, so I’m anxious to know what y’all think…

bump bump it up

well if u are accepted at one CSU .... then I hope there won't be any aberrations when it comes to admission criteria of the other CSU's.... meaning that ur definitely in!

Most CSU's require 2.0 to 2.4 or better.... u have a 3.0
...keep it up...don't worry... u will definitely will get in all of them

However, make sure tha u have the pre-requisites: english composition, oral communication, critical thinking and college-level mathematics... completed! to make u a strong transfer applicant

Thanks! I have those 4 prereq's completed. I was also thinking, if you meet the admission requirements for the CSU's, and your major is not impacted... does that mean you are definitely in?

wat do u mean by "major impacted"

with your grades, u have a chance at uci and ucr as well/.

a major that's impacted is when more applications are received in the initial filing period from CSU eligible applicants than can be accommodated by the campus.

What I was wondering was, if civil engineering is not 'impacted' at the school, and I meet the admission requirements for the school, does that mean I'm definitely in?

You think UCI? I just checked and they are still accepting applications for spring 08.......hmmmmm...

What do you guys think about Cal Poly Pomona vs. UCI, for Civil Engineering?

I think Cal Poly Pomona is great for civil engineering. The CSU schools have a more practical engineering focus versus the UCs, which tend to be more theory focused.

FYI: USNWR ranked engineering programs whose highest degree is a masters.

Cal Poly Pomona came in at #16, tied with San Jose State.
CSU Los Angeles is #31
CSU Northridge is #38
