Chances for Tufts, Wellesley, Columbia, TCNJ, Lafayette (Please answer even a yes/no at the least)

I need to decide by tonight if these schools are even worth applying to, so at the very least it would be great if you could say y/n!!! :)

I'm a HS senior at a top NJ public school

What I have against me: My GPA

School only does weighted, out of 4.0, and no class rank
Freshman year: 3.2 (All honors)
Sophomore year: 3.4 (1 advanced)
Junior year: 3.9 (1AP, 1 honors, 1 advanced & 3 credits from a local uni for the honors class)
Senior year: not sure about GPA yet (1 advanced, 1 honors, 3 APs)
Total: 3.5/4.0

My transition from MS to HS was very difficult since I took on a huge course load without understanding how much work it really was. My sophomore year, I was just not working as hard as I should have, I can't deny that. Though i pulled myself together and grew up, and worked my butt of my junior year, and I'm still working hard now.

What I have going for me:

Top NJ public school known for its rigorous course load

I am Nepalese and I am a citizen there-- I have a greencard (hopefully this is a tiny bit unique?)

Great ECs: Hospital volunteer for 3 years, secretary & co founder of Women's Rights Club, VP & co founder of doctor who club, Chief Justice of Varisty debate for 2 years, Summer Surgical Internship at the hospital, JV track for fresh & soph year (had to stop bc of injury), state certified EMT, tutor & babysitter & I volunteered with the 2009 CNN Hero at her refuge for trafficked women in my home country, Nepal

SAT: 2120-- M 690/ CR 730/ W 700

I think my essay is good-- it's about my ability to balance my Nepali lifestyle with my American one, and how that has made me a more well rounded, understanding, and cultured person.

Please chance me for these schools: Tufts, Wellesley, Columbia**, TCNJ, Lafayette

Please be completely honest, and thanks so much!

**My mom went to Columbia Law school (which I know, does not make me a legacy) but I was hoping to delineate on how I basically grew up on the campus while she was at school every day. That Columbia was a part of my past, and Id' like for it to be a part of my future kind of thing.

Colombia is certainly a reach, but if its your top, I say go for it! It seems that you are pretty average for Tufts and Wellesley, but Tufts may still be a bit of a reach because of your GPA. You’re looking pretty good for Lafayette too, your scores are much higher than the mean there. TCNJ seems like it would just be a safety school

Thank you!!

Columbia: Reach
Tufts/Wellesley: Low Reach/Match
Lafayette: Match
TCNJ: Match
Good luck! Chance back? :slight_smile: <a href=“Chance me for Vassar I'll chance back :) - Vassar College - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me for Vassar I'll chance back :) - Vassar College - College Confidential Forums;

thank you!

Your SAT is good, but your GPA is quite low for Columbia, Tufts, and Wellesley. All three of these are reaches/high reaches, but they do read holistically, so you have a chance. I can’t comment on the other two.

Also, you should check if you are considered international for application purposes, as I suspect you are if you are not an American citizen. That makes admission more difficult, and it will have a huge impact on your financial aid.

Since I have a greencard and I’ve been a US resident for many years, I don’t count as international, but thanks for the concern! And thank you for your input!
