Chances for UCLA

I have a overall 3.5; completed IGETC; my gpa for the prereqs only is around 3.3; i'm a junior transfer majoring in business econ for UCLA; officer in business club; AGS club member; transfer club member; all courses need are completed with all A's and 3 B's and one C with a total of about 78 units; suppose my personal statement is average, what are my chances of getting in? fairly likely? likely? not likely? or very not likely...?

Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? I think it's not likely =/. However, the officer in business club may boost you up a little, unless it's FBLA (they have a LOT of officers). And the one C may affect your chances as well (don't worry, i'm in the same situation with a C on my transcript). If you're still a junior, try to have more ECs. Also, i was wondering, how does the ED method work?

Um. Magna, this person is trying to get in as a transfer. CC grades aren't weighted.

I think you have a very fair shot, UCtransfer.

choose a crappy major, switch major when you get in

might help

Nope, that wouldn't work. You have to choose your major as a junior, so whatever major you transfer into is your major.

I think you have a chance, but you're far from a shoo-in, even though transfer students are given the first priority. The C, hopefully, isn't in a class important to business/econ? If it is, then it would definitely hurt you. Also, it's usually not enough to simply be an officer in one club (unless you're president) and simply members in others.

Hm... do you work? Having a job, especially one related to your major (like an internship, for example) would give you a huge boost.

The clubs and everything will help and AGS may as well. 3.5 is just slightly lower than average for business econ, but Im pretty sure they look at your total gpa for lower division work, and that will probably be most detrimental to your chances. You definitely have a decent chance, but with LA it can all be so arbitrary anyways that its really hard to predict.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
