Chances for UC's and California privates?

Hey guys.

I am in my last year of high school. I am finishing in 3 years, and then applying for college next year, so I pretty much know all my grades and test scores. Lol, also keep in mind, I am not your typical CC student ;)

UW GPA: 3.14
W GPA: 3.48
UC GPA: 3.55 (I had a significant upward trend)

ACT: 27
SAT II Math 2: 620
SAT II US History: 640

EC's: 3 years in the student senate. Member of 2 clubs. Had 3 part time jobs at different times through HS.

School doesn't have class ranks.

4 semesters of honors classes
2 semesters of AP classes
9 semesters of concurrent enrollment w/ a local CC

Schools I am looking at:
UCSC
UCR
UCD
UCSB
UCI
Santa Clara University
University of San Francisco
University of San Diego
University of the Pacific

Thanks in advance :)

I can only comment on the UCs.

UCSC and UCR are matches.
UCD, UCI and UCSB are semi-reaches.

Why not Berkeley or UCLA?

Oh, I would love to go to UCB or UCLA, and I am sure I will apply just for that minimal chance of getting in, but I figured I am way out of range for those schools.

I think you'll get into UCI and UCD, but I can't say for sure.

USD- match
UOP- match (do you want to be a pharmacist?)
USF- match

UCSC--match (their average UC GPA of admitees is 3.56, you are at 3.55)
UCR--match
UCD/UCSB/UCI--match to slight reach (your nine CC classes really help you possibly get in at one of these three schools.
Santa Clara University--match to slight reach (good school, but expensive in-state)
University of San Francisco-safe match
University of San Diego-match
University of the Pacific--safe match

Also, you are a slight reach at USC and UC San Diego and a match to slight reach at Pepperdine. Like I said, it's mostly because of your community college courses (I'm presuming you have at least Bs in these, or else they won't help you with the colleges I've mentioned above).

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the comments so far :) It's going better then I expected ;)

Yeah, I did alright in the CC courses (it's really what boasted my GPA). I received 4 semesters worth of honors A's, 3 of B's, and 2 of C's (all have honors/AP level weight).

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I am going to apply to Cal Poly SLO and Pomona too (Electrical Engineering for both)

UCSC -- match
UCR -- pretty safe match
UCD -- slight reach
UCSB -- slight reach
UCI -- match
SCU -- match
USF -- safe match
USD -- match
Cal Poly SLO -- match [maybe a little reach]
Cal Poly Pomona -- match [maybe a little reach]

you might wanna take a look at these too:
Occidental -- reach [but they take a pretty individual stance on accepting ppl]
LMU -- match/ slight reach
San Diego State -- pretty safe match
Chapman -- safety

Cal Poly Pomona -- match [maybe a little reach]

LOL, Cal Poly SLO =/= Cal Poly Pomona. Pomona is easy to get into. Definitely easier than San Diego State.

hopeful01:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Slight Reach
UCSC/UCR: Match

Hmm, I really want to get into UCD/UCI/UCSB or Cal Poly-SLO (electrical engineering major all schools). So on Friday I talked to my counselor about not graduating early and my schedule, if I stayed, would be:

AP Statistics
IB Theory of Knownledge
Honors History of Asia
Photography 1-2 (college prep)
Ceramics 1-2
AutoCad 1-2

How much do you guys think this will help?

By the end of highschool I'll have 16 Honors/College/IB/AP semesters in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade instead of 10 if I was to graduate early.

According to the UC's offical freshman profiles 88.0% of applicants with 15+ honors semesters completed in 10th-12th grade get into UCD, 81.6% into UCI, and 74.4% into UCSB. I don't have the statistics for Cal Poly.

Any thoughts?

Oh also, by the end of highschool I will have 5 years of Math, 4 of science, and 2 foreign language (maybe I'll do a third?). I hope 5 years of math helps with engineering school admissions.

EDIT: and yes I am a California resident :)

Definately do a 3rd year of Language. 2 is the minimum for the UC's, but 3 is reccomended.

UCSC - match
UCR - match
UCD - slight reach
UCSB - slight reach
UCI - slight reach
UCB - reach
UCLA - reach

Thanks to everyone who has responded :)

Anymore thoughts on staying one more year and not finishing early?
