SAT I--- 1700 (Aiming at an 1800)
BIO MAJOR (PRE-MED)

Def. try to get your SAT scores up ...UCs are really into the numbers.

Any Uc's????

1700 SAT 3.75 UC GPA:

UCB/UCLA: Large Reach
UCSD: Reach-Large Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Slight Reach
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match-Safe Match

1800 SAT 3.75 UC GPA:

UCB/UCLA: Reach-Large Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match-Safety

Even with an 1800 UCSD, UCLA, and UC Berkeley are going to be very tough. There average UC GPA's are well above 4.0 and SAT's for UCSD are just shy of 1950, for UCLA just shy of 2010, and UC Berkeley just shy of 2040. If you could get your SAT up to around 1900 , UCSD would become a Slight Reach, and UCLA and UC Berkeley would become a Reach. If you get an 1800 on your SAT, i believe you will atleast get into one if not more of the mid tier UC's (UCI/UCSB/UCD). Best of luck. if your SAT stays around 1700 I would focus on UCSC personally, and still shoot for mid tier UC's as you never know. Best of luck! Also, you never know. I have heard of people with 3.7's and 3.8's getting into mid and top tier UC's with just decent SAT's and people with 4.0+ gpa's getting denied with pretty solid SAT's.

I would put the 3 mid UCs as matches with an 1800.

thank you for all the valuable information.

I would say UCLA/UCB: Reach
UCSD: reach, but if raise SAT scores to about 1900+, I would say match
and all mid tiers are matches.

how bout me?
around 3.6 UW, 3.85 W, planning to get around 2200+ on SAT I (i think i can, on practice tests i get around that score), planning on getting 800 on SAT II Math IIC (again, i think i can because i got a raw score of 41 on a practice in the barrons book), and planning to get a 750 or higher in SAT II physics (got 660 last time, but i really didnt learn anything in class and im studying hard this summer). 150+ hours volunteer at a hospital, cross country and track 3 years, band 3 years, AP scholar so far (took 3), i took many challenging courses.

I got suspended freshman yr, but i'll try to explain that in my essay. i also improved my grades a lot over the years

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I agree with ucchris on the 1700 SAT numbers chances, but think you need about a 1875-1900 for the higher chances that he puts at a 1800 SAT.

(In other words, we're pretty close, but I think it will take a few more SAT points to move your chances up at UCI, UCSB, and UCD).

And Iildimsum7--post your own thread--don't try to "hijack" this one.

Calcruzer is likely correct.... you would likely need above a 1800 with a 3.75 GPA to call UCI/UCSB/UCD matches. more likely in the ballpark of 1850-1900 to be solid enough to call them matches. although i feel that if you pull off a 1800-1850, you still got a decent shot at getting into atleast one of them. Get that 1700 up to 1800+! Best of luck!
