Chances for UCs (UCSB, UCI etc.) in Mechanical Engineering?

Can someone please help me understand my chances at the UCs in ME? I realize that Engineering is especially competitive but hoping for a mid tier like UCSB or UCI. My stats are:

UC GPA(UW): 3.81
UC GPA (weighted & capped): 4.18
SAT (new): 1,350
In State

Only feedback so far is that I received a request for LOR from Berkeley but not sure what that means.

EC’s? HS course rigor?

You have a solid GPA and test scores and ME is a popular and competitive major.
The top UC’s are alwwys tough but you have a chance at all UC’s. It may come down to your essays and EC’s to set you apart.

Freshman admits with UC GPA of 3.80-4.19
UCB: 12%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 39%
UCSB: 49%
UCD: 52%
UCI: 57%
UCSC: 83%
UCR: 90%
UCM: 92%

Good Luck

I believe you have a very good chance at both schools depending on your EC’s, essays, and the courses that your school offers. My friend got accepted to UCI last year, and had similar stats - 4.0 UC GPA, 1800 SAT (old) and also applied for engineering. Because the UC’s changed their prompts for 2016 applicants, I’m not sure if that’ll affect the way they accept future students. I guess we’ll have to wait it out and see when decisions come out.

@selfconfidentgal Thank you!
