*now I know my scores kind of suck, but this school year I have been dealing with a chronic illness that makes it difficult to write & type. Also my grandfather has a few mental illnesses and it has taken a toll on my family and I. Thanks for the help :)

Hmm, hard to say. Scores need to come up, but extracurriculars are good. Being a low income URM should definitely help, though. I think… if you raise your scores to at least 1800- 1900 (given your circumstances and illness), you should be ok.

@Angelonacloud‌ UC’s don’t factor in URM and low income too heavily.

Aim for 31+/2100+… did you try the ACT?

@Angelonacloud‌ before my injuring worsened, I was consistently scoring in the 1700s on practice tests  @Catria‌ Im better at the SAT but ill definitely try it in the fall! So what are my chances for each of those UCs?

The average GPA for most of those schools is above 4.0, and with that SAT as it is, I don’t think the odds are in your favor. I wish you the best of luck in retaking it, though! Do well enough, and you should have a great shot at the mid-tier UCs (UCI, UCSB, and UCD).

UCLA: Reach
UCB: Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCI: Reach
UCSB: Reach
UCD: Reach
UCSC: Match.

Yeah, do take the SAT again, I’m sure you’ll get at least 1850, if not higher. Write a good personal statement, don’t slack off senior year, and I think you’ll be great for UCSB, UCI, and UCSC, maybe even UCD who knows but yeah that’s still a reach.

Thanks guys! Ive only taken the sat once and when I did my illness had been pretty bad but I know I will do 10x better this fall! Once all the pain goes away I know my sat wont be so abysmal

I was just curious about what you guys think so far :)

Btw what if I dont get better and my sat scores stays low, will colleges in general understand how difficult long tests are for me to take? Or should I just be looking for test optional colleges
