Chances for UCSB?

Hi! So I’m a senior in high school right now and I would really like to get into UCSB so what are my chances? I’m from instate and I got a 2140 on the SAT, except my GPA is probably around a 3.2-3.4( although that’s unweighted, and I would have taken 4 ap classes and a couple honors by the end of high school). I’m not really a part of any clubs, except I’ll been on a varsity sport for 3 years and captain for 2. I’m also a part of a couple mentoring programs and a tutor on the side. I haven’t been really big on volunteering, mainly because I haven’t had the time to get like over a 100 hours or anything.

And I’m thinking of applying undeclared, so how would that affect my chances? I might be interested in going into engineering, except that is an impacted major and I’m not sure if I even want to go into it at the moment.

So a couple questions: What are my chances and should I apply undeclared or apply as engineering even if I’m not 100% sure about it? And if I go in as undeclared and then decide I do want to do engineering, would I be able to switch in at the end of sophomore year?

Anyone?

UCSB: Low Reach

Your SAT is competitive, but GPA will hurt your chances especially for Engineering.

Average UC GPA last year was 4.07.

UCSB’s application review is based on GPA, SAT, Course Rigor 50% and Essays/EC’s 50%, so having outstanding EC’s and essays could give you a boost.

UCSB’s Engineering department is small and trying to switch in later could be a definite problem. Check the link provided:

Good Luck and have some solid Match schools on your list.

GPA makes that pretty unlikely. Apply anyhow because with UCs, a compelling essay may get you in.

Look into SDSU, CSULB, Fullerton and Northridge. CP Pomona could also work. Would need your SAT breakdown and CSU GPA tt give you a better idea.
