Thanks for the input! But unfortunately they don’t anymore. My school already offers weight to my classes, and if a school already offers weight than UGA use a 4.0 scale instead of a 5.0 scale ); (Unfair if you ask me) I’m just praying but thanks so much!
That GPA is way below average from last year EA’s GPA which was a 4.14. Even though your SAT score is phenomenal, UGA wouldn’t take that into too much consideration as they value grades and academic rigor over test scores. I feel that you will get deferred to regular decision, but you can make that up with ECs and your essay which are reviewed in the regular admission process.
On their blog they said that if you have 2 of 3 of the core identifiers for EA (GPA, Test scores, Academic rigor) you have a good chance. I have 10 AP’s and 2 DE’S and a 1580 there would be an overwhelming chance that I would still get deferred?
People who meet 2/3 requirements still get deferred. I’m not saying you will get deferred, but it all depends on this year’s application pool. UGA’s admission selection is tricky and is only a safety for vals/sals.
Correct - here is how UGA calculates recalculates high school GPA. They also only count the math and english portions of the ACT in coming up with your ACT score. Reading and Science do not factor into your UGA ACT score. http://ugaadmissions.blogspot.com/2013/11/calculating-uga-gpa.html
With that high of an SAT score, I believe you will be accepted. While your GPA may be below the average, your SAT score is substantially above the average for UGA incoming freshman. Also, it looks like you challenged yourself in terms of the difficulty of your classes with 10 APs.
I know some people’s stats from 2 years ago and 5 years ago. 2 years ago ik someone who got in EA with a 3.55 Weighted and a 35 ACT composite, and 5 years ago ik someone who got in with a perfect SAT and a 3.3 Weighted… according to those figures I would be comfortable with getting in 2-5 years ago, but idek about this year’s EA considering that the competition just gets harder every year. Do you genuinely believe I have a fair shot at EA?
I got in. I KNOW you will get in regular literally everyone with a 1450+ or a 33+ does lol. You just have to wait a little longer which is annoying. (;
Also, I learned an insanely important thing yesterday. It depends on who your admissions officer is. There is an admissions officer assigned per each region. It also depends on the admissions officer that is looking at your application; through that it can be extremely subjective concerning how they perceive things. Like my admissions officer probably thought a 1580 was far too good to defer, whereas your admissions officer probably had some type of hatred towards standardized tests granted that you were deferred. Regardless, I would put my life on it, you will in get in RD like 100% not even a question.
