Chances for UMICH, UW Madision, UCLA, USC

Hey guys,

I am a junior going into my senior year this fall. I moved at the start of high school and had a hard time fitting in and finding people to socialize with. Anyways, freshman year I got a 2.89 GPA, Sophomore 3.406 and Junior year I will end with ~3.5.

My unweighted GPA is still a 3.3 ish at the end of Junior year. I have taken 3 AP classes and 6 honors classes. The 2 AP classes were because I was limited in my selection not because I was lazy. What type of business schools should I be looking at? I like a big school, out of state and with a good business program(marketing)

Bump for same boat

Please guys

USC, UCLA and Michigan are reaches. Wisconsin is probably in the match range; I’m not sure about the various UCs. Your URM status will help, but that 3.3 is going to be the tripping point. Here are some stats that may help:

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1213/USCFreshmanProfile2012.pdf

[Freshman admission profiles | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/profiles/index.html)

Remember the GPA numbers for the UCs are “California GPAs” so you’ll need to recalculate, I think there is a link somewhere on the page above.

So my.ecs don’t matter at all?

Your ECs are good but at your reach schools so are nearly everyone else’s. I’m not saying you have no chance but if you were deciding between two candidates with nearly the same test scores and ECs would you choose the one with a 3.7 GPA or the one with a 3.3?

USC, UCLA, and Michigan are reaches. UW-Madison would be a high match. You definitely need to do more ECs and volunteering if you wanna get into those schools

bump. Took 3 APS and 6 honors

Will have taken 7 Honors and 9 aps by graduation

3.3 unweighted for out of state very low for UW. 3.5 unweighted is about the lowest we have heard for out of stste admitted students, (my son goes there) but the fact you have reciprocity from MN – I don’t have any experience with how that affects admission decision. Good luck.
