Note: I go to Thomas Jefferson High Schol for Science and Technology, one of the hardest STEM schools in the nation, and I really struggled with Math and Science my first two years, but really picked it up my junior year and got 6 As and one B in the hardest classes I’ve ever taken at my school. I’m also applying to LSA for economics and the Ross BBA program and I believe I have pretty solid EC activities.

I have a couple questions:
Does my upward trend mean anything?
Can my Essays make a significant impact?

ECs:
Microfinancing Internship with Indian Government for two years
Solar Tracker Research Project
Organized an Environmentally Friendly Startup competition for my High School
Helped organize STEM camps for low-income families in my community
President of My school’s FBLA chapter
President of My school’s Business in Science Chapter
Junior Varsity Debate
Played Basketball my Freshman Year

Your extremely low GPA and moderately high ACT/ high AP scores show that you’re smart but don’t commit yourself to your academics and your classes. That GPA is really low for an out of state student especially, but also in-state too.

I really struggled with Math and Science at my STEM school. Math and Science weed out a lot of people and cause them to transfer back to their regular schools. My counselor will reflect that I worked incredibly hard my freshman and sophomore year, but I eventually figured it out and improved.

Your GPA is the biggest problem.

Nope. Your GPA sinks you.
