I was just curious to know if you guys think ill get accepted to UNC Chapel Hill...im from NY...ya the out of state thing is gonna hurt me but ill take a shot.

My GPA is 3.8-3.9 ACT is a 28-30 (thats what ill be submitting) and ill be graduating with 8 AP's. Here are my classes

Spanish I through III and Spanish 200-201 H/ English 9H, 10, 11, journalism, Public Speaking/ Math I H, 2H, 3, 12/ Global History 9h, 10h, AP US History/ Bio H, Chem, AP Physics B, AP Bio, Social Psych/ College Business Law H/ Health, Health H/ CAD, CAD II/ AP Art History, AP micro econ, AP macro Econ, AP stats, and calc H.

I also have 1500+ hours of community service with the town EMS, i have a county award for youth EMS of the year. Ive been secretary for a year, 1st lieutenant (2nd in command) for a year, and captain (in charge) for another year. i started the first red cross youth chapter in my county (president for 2 years), student council for 4 years, JSA, Engineering club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Math Honor Society, citizenship award, various science and social studies awards, and other recognitions...

So what do you guys think my chances are of getting in as an out of stater??

Sorry but you don't have a great chance, its a pretty good reach a 30 ACT only equals a 1340 SAT and it'd be a reach even if you had a 1400+. CH and the other UNC schools only accept 19% of out of state applicants. Try to diversify yourself and make yourself stand out from the other applicants. If they offer it go for an interview. If you can get that up to a 1400+ it would be a slight reach/match. Good luck!

damn...idk how else to diversify myself...how many other out of state applicants started the first county red cross chapter and have over 1500 hours of comm service and 8 APs for that matter

Well put a lot of emphasis on that! I didn't mean to sound like a pessimist. Just state schools tend to go by numbers--the objective stats not the subjective ones. CH gets a ton of applicants. Out of that 19% of out of staters you have to include athletes, legacies etc. Thats why if you want to go go for an interview. I just know of a lot of kids with great stats and 1400+ SAT's who get rejected.

doogie...i am really impressed by your community service. like the other guy said, your stats are low for unc out of state. but congrats on your community service. i am envious and pleased
