Chances for UNC,Penn,Brown,etc. and Robertson

<p>Hi everyone. Ive got a really long list, so any help is much appreciated.</p>

<p>COLLEGES: UNC out of state (early notification), UPenn, Brown, Duke, Northwestern, Dartmouth, WashU, Tufts, and University of Vermont (early action)</p>

<p>Scholarship: Robertson Scholarship- This is a fullride scholarship to either UNC-Chapel Hill or Duke. 36 students receive this award between the 2 schools each year. It requires that i write 2 extra 500-word essays and send the usual stats and extrcurriculars.</p>

<p>-Class Rank: My school doesn't rank, but does deciles. I hope Ill be in the first one (top 10%) but its a competitive public school (of about 900 kids)
with an excellent reputation
-GPA: 3.9/4.3, on which an A=4.0 and A+=4.3. Its an unweighted scale. No idea what i have weighted. I've been in all honors classes throughout high school, except English I my freshman year.</p>

<p>-ACT: 35 (36 math, 35 english, 36 reading, 34 science), 12 writing
-SAT II: 780 Biology M, 780 Math II, 790 Us History</p>

<p>CLASSES
-AP's are not offered ad my school until junior year (in general), and I have taken AP US History and AP Biology (both 5's)

<p>EXTRA CURRICULARS:
*Violin
St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra- 1st violin 2 years, 2nd one. Its a very advanced group, consisting of students ages 12-22. All State Orchestra- 1st violin 2 years. Additionally, i play in my church about every other month, and in retirement homes and homeless shelters on occasion. I'm sending in a recording through the Arts Supplement with my applications
*Research
I was a lab assistant at WashU School of medicine, doing basic science procedures. i worked 30 hours a week for 8 weeks the past 2 summers. The head of the lab is writing me a rec for admissions and the scholarship
*Sports
Cross Country- Varsity 3 years, one of 2 captains for 2 years. Varsity Wrestling- 2 years. Nearly made state my freshman year, significantly injured my sophomore and junior years, and was unable to wrestle for the remainder of my junior year. Varsity Golf- 3 years
*Bass
I play upright bass and bass guitar in the High School Jazz band (3 years). All-Suburban Bass Alternate this year, Outstanding soloist at the illinois state university jazz invitational. I play in pit band each year and play for volunteer service and for money in small jazz comobos.
*Community Service
I volunteer in my church weekly during the school year as a sunday school helper, which i have been doing for 4 years. I also tutor for chemistry, physics, and math weekly (2 years).
*Additional
NHS, TriM, Young Democrats Club (and canvasing for Barack Obama), National Merit Commended Student, American History Award (through my highschool)</p>

<p>OTHER
-Essays: really good. Not frilly and complex but very straightforward and honest.
-Teacher Rec: one GREAT (the teacher the History award was named after), and one good
-My counselor loves me
-Interviews: Tufts, WashU, Dartmouth (I sent my apps really early to all my schools except Penn and Brown)
-My dad is on faculty at WashU and i have the employee tuition benefit (free tution, 1/2 tution to all other schools). He is also a Brown grad and worked there 13 years.
-I moved in the middle of my freshman year (it was accompanied by a dip in my grades)</p>

<p>you should apply for the morehead rather than the roberston i think. roberston is more focused on community service which you have but not a major focus.</p>

<p>too late for that... i already finished my application for the robertson and you cant apply to both</p>

<p>i think you have an above average shot at any of those colleges</p>

<p>good luck getting in i think you have a great shot (as great a shot as it can be at the ivies and elite schools)</p>

<p>And I just wanted to say good luck with the Robertson! I applied for it too :) I'm so anxious to find out.. and I'm from the midwest too :) Hopefully we both get it</p>

<p>i applied for robertson too. i think duke is my #1 and robertson is the only way i can afford it, so i really REALLY want it. im so nervous.:)</p>
