What do you think? THANK YOU!!

I think you have a pretty good shot, nothing is 100% but I know multiple people who are less qualified than you who have gotten into UMD.

good shot for the business school as well?

For college park, I think you need to increase your ACT score but otherwise, you have a good shot.

do either of you know how difficult classes are at the business school? obvioulsy its highly ranked so of course it wont be easy, but comparitively speaking do you have an idea?

I got in with stats lower than yours but not to the business school. I think you should try to increase your act for the best chance at getting it smith which is very competitive.

thanks invader71

anyone out there who is in the smith school and can tell me what it’s like?

My dad teaches at the business school at UMCP and he saw your post and thinks you’ll be fine. He said that you should maybe broaden you EC’s and try to improve your test scores, but you seem qualified enough. Good luck.

thanks for you and your dads input, much appreciated!

with the business school currently being expanded, is maryland looking to increase the number of students as well?

I would also add that you should definitely get your application in for the Early Action deadline of Nov. 1st for the best chance of admission. My d will enter this fall as a freshman, and watching the cc message boards over the past 6 months it is clear that you can increase your odds applying EA. It’s amazing the stats of some well- qualified kids who were turned away – most of whom applied RD.

The number of students that will get in WILL rise, although it’s not much of a difference considering the number of kids that will apply this year. Application rates are at all time high so just work hard to stand out. Don’t be a fringe kid.

kbiresearch: yes they stressed that at the informational meeting (90% of incoming class admitted through ea!!)

addymithas: thats what i assumed, thanks again for the info!

No problem. If I may suggest, you said you were interested in the business school at MD. Why not reach out to an undergraduate professor and request a meeting or even a chance to write a paper for a major business journal, i.e, management science?
That’ll be huge in admissions. Good luck!

that’s a good idea, ill be sure to look into that…if you get a chance, would you mind asking your dad what he thinks the workload is for the average kid at the business school?

Just asked, he said the the business school at CP provides a great education, but it goes about doing that by providing a “fair” workload. In other words, you’ll be busy with work, but you can definitely maintain a social life.

very fair thats what i was hoping to hear…thanks so much to you and your dad you’ve been coming up clutch!!

Ha, no problem. Best of luck!

what is the off campus housing situation like? is there only apartments or actual houses too?
