Chances for UTD AES (out of state)

I’m a high school junior in Arizona. What are my chances of getting into the AES program and UTD?Here’s what I’ve got going for me so far:

President of GSA (Gender and Sexual Orientation Alliance - I’m a member of the LGBTQIA+ community)

GPA 3.96 weighted, 3.8 unweighted (my weighted is likely to increase significantly because I’m taking 4 APs this year and between 4 and 6 next year when I’m a senior)

Definite APs:

  • Human Geo (4, freshman year)
  • World History (4, sophomore year)
    *US History (N/A, junior year)
*Physics (N/A, junior year - I might not take this ap exam but I’m currently taking the class)
    *Lang (N/A, junior year)
*Art History (N/A, junior year - my school has a 100% pass rate for this exam so I’m getting at least a 3)
    *Lit (N/A, senior year)
    *Gov (N/A, senior year)
  • Stats (N/A, senior year)
    *Environmental Science (N/A, senior year)

Other possible APs:
*Spanish Lang (N/A, senior year)
*Psychology (N/A, senior year)

Counselor-in-Training at a YMCA camp every summer (volunteer hours)

Volunteer at my school’s before/after school coffee & snack shop (volunteer hours)

Library club (general library maintenance, organization of library events, etc etc)

Nationality - mixed (white/second-generation Japanese American)

Almost all of the other classes I’ve taken at school (other than yoga and econ) have been/will be Honors Classes, but my school doesn’t weight honors classes differently than regular classes in weighted GPA.

I’m the oldest of 5 in a single parent household (idk if this will help me get into AES but my mom died a few years ago and my dad works out of town every other week)

My high school is in like the top 30 in the nation (idk what our actual number is its between like 7 and 28)

I hate Arizona and my elementary school years were spent in Dallas. What are my chances of getting AES, or getting into UTD at all?

oh also I haven’t taken the SAT or the ACT yet, but I’ve taken the PSAT twice and the last time i got a 1310, which I believe equates to a 1380 on the SAT (although the year before that I didn’t do as well, so I’m expecting to continue the pattern of improvement - my last PSAT is next week)

@sennish I think you’ll need to pull your SAT up to the 1400’s for a chance of AES

https://aes.utdallas.edu/prospective-freshmen/awards

I know they say they look at the total student record they weight scores and grades the most. Also keep in mind that there is a set number of AES awards each year, and each year UTD is attracking more and more high stat applicants so the averge scores/grades have been increasing each year.

Being OOS won’t effect an AES award, but if you do get any level of AES you would only be charged in state tution.
