GPA: 4.37/5
My school doesn't do unweighted GPA. I got two B's in middle school, two in freshman year, straight A's sophomore year, only one B my Junior year and I got straight A's my senior year. I'm around the top 6%.
I have taken 9 AP or IB classes. None of these classes are offered sophomore year or freshmen year.

Act Composite: 30
English: 32
Math: 32
science: 28
reading: 30
writing: 08

Subject test: 710 in math

Recommendations: awesome and pretty personal
Essays: Two were really good in my opinion and the other one I thought was good. One was kind of risky but people liked it. I had to email them one because my common app didn't save correctly and I had to email them about something else because my commonapp kept messing up and shutting down.
EC: I have been a part of yearbook for 4 years. I'm a leader in SGA, yearbook, and a community service activity. I'm captain of my tennis team. I've been playing an instrument since I was 7. I also do a lot of community service, in a lot of honor societies, and have been part of the same clubs since freshman year.

I'm also in state for both!!! I'm applying to the College of Arts and Sciences for both!!!

Thank you!

math 2
why is it a low reach because I’m in the mid 50 and have tons of extracurriculars @Aquas98?

“tons of extracurricular” don’t really help. Colleges like to see quality of quantity. They want people who are dedicated to some EC’s rather then minimally involved in many. However I am not entirely sure about the two colleges. I still think that you will get into 1 of the 2 colleges

I kind of meant tons of good extracurriculars
Here’s what I have
I’ve been part of yearbook for 4 years. I’m Editor-on-Chief now.
I’ve been playing tennis since I was 7 years old. I’m captain now.
I’ve been playing and instrument and on the swim team since I was in kindergarten
I’ve been a very active member of Key Club since freshman year.
I’m part of many honor societies but they don’t do much.
I was elected by my class to plan school activities for student life in SGA.
I’m also active in two volunteer groups.
@Aquas98

@toesockshoe I don’t get it though because they are in the range for both!!!

@BB8764 I’m guessing we have similar scores

@BDM1994 sorry, i go to a competitive high school, so I am used to looking at the 75th percentile marking. Your scores seem to fall in between the 50th adn 75th percentile marking, so i guess your test scores are fine if you go to a mediorcre high school. so they are both probably low reaches (i dont put anyone at a match for competitive schools like these).

I mean I go to a good school and I’m instate so that’s a big boost. I know quite a few people who got in at or below my scores. So fingers crossed @toesockshoe

I think you’ll be fine. Your scores aren’t bad at all

Thanks! @betweenthetrees

Great GPA…frankly I think the school rank matters much more than the GPA itself. I mean in my Bio honors class, only 2 or 3 people got an A- and nobody got an A (so most people ended up with a 3.3 unweighted gpa for the class or below), and some of the people in that class got into top schools like Duke or Carnegie Mellon.

Also I’ll be blunt and to the point.
- Decent ACT score but it’s a bit low. Take in mind that a 30 on the ACT scales to around a 2000 on SAT, esp if youre looking at a top 30 school like William/Mary and UVA

Also are your honors societies actually honors societies, and not “fluff”? I’m sorry if this sounds offensive but I’m a bit dubious when you say “a lot of honors societies,” since at least in my school you need to take a great academic standing (like 100 hrs + for community service honors or a A average for 2 spanish honors classes to join the Spanish Honors Society)

Try raising your SAT 2 math score and take a few more SAT 2 tests, like SAT 2 literature or SAT 2 chem

I’s great you’re in a lot of leadership positions :D, that would help you out a lot I’d say

Good luck :DD

@Jarjarbinks
Yeah I know my ACT is kind of low but my subsections are a higher and those schools says they look at the subsections more so hopefully that will increase my chances. You have to have an a average to be honors societies. So if you get a b, it’s hard to get in. For National Honor Society, it’s a selective process with different factors. I’m in NHS, Science honors society, quill and scroll honor society, and beta (:

I don’t know why you made a chance thread when you are debating with everyone who says it’s anything but a match. If you want opinions, you can’t tell people they’re wrong. The fact of the matter is your scores aren’t STELLAR, and that’s a big factor. GPA is good but hard to tell without seeing what classes you take. It’s low reach, these schools are tough.

Does your high school participate in Naviance? That will give you a good idea where you stand. ILow reach WM and Mary, reach UVA from what I can see, but the Naviance cluster points will be more accurate.

@novafan1225 I’m just curious as to why. I don’t think it’s wrong for me to ask why. Thanks for your opinion though
