I've basically set my eyes on either of these colleges as the ones I would hope to go to. I feel that Duke is a bit of a reach for me so I most likely will ED there and if I don't get in re-apply there and to UVA as well. I live in NY and I've heard some bad things about UVA OOS so I hope you can give me a good idea of my chances. Thanks! Also I am a junior

Match For UVA
Low Reach/ Reach for Duke ED

ok thanks! do you have any suggestions for senior year that I can help up my chances for duke? I got denied an internship for this summer so I’m going to a program that helps me create my own business organization (nothing really big, more like my own tutoring program or basketball training program) and I’m probably gonna get a job.

Duke is a hard school to get into; improving chances is difficult, as it is a reach for nearly everyone. I would recommend getting the SAT score up to around 2200 though.

I second knockaround. Improve your SAT scores and apply ED. It still won’t be easy to get in, but you will improve your chances dramatically.

thanks guys! I have reason to believe that I got an 800 math and at least 700 writing on the last sat so that would bring my superscore up to 2200. Hope that will be good enough to get me into duke! lol

I know a lot of people who go/ went to UVa. For instate you would be a match (not a safety but not a reach). I imagine it might be easier to get in out of state (not sure though). Also, UVa is a great school, so I would not croos it off your list!

My friend with a 35 ACT got into Duke, but rejected from all the ivies (didn’t apply to Cornell) and Chicago. Your test scores are in the range, but it will probably come down to how much they like your essay. So Duke is a reach, but you have a good chance at UVA for sure.

Good sam? As in west islip? I go to school right next door! And id say your a match for both

lol yup that one! i go to school in dix hills though and hopefully i will be a match for both esp. after may sats come out

UVA - Match
Duke - Reach

Improve that SAT score.

Hey again. I’d say you have a real strong application, I’d just maybe try and interview over at duke, and perhaps bring the SATs up to around 2200 ? Good luck !

Thanks for chancing me btw! Anyways, My science teacher went to Duke, and he always said that even though his S wasnt the highest, his golden application put him over the top! So if you do good on your application, you have a shot at both schools! Good luck!

*SAT wasnt the highest, sorry!!
