My daughter is OOS at strong private school that does not rank its students, has 4.13 weighted gpa (4.3 is highest), 4.0 un-weighted (classes have been the most rigorous available; obviously no b’s and for all six semesters only two a-'s; rest a’s (17) and a+'s (19 )); 31 ACT (35 English, 32 Reading, 30 Math and 29 Science); APUSH, 5; AP Capstone Seminar, 5; AP Bio, 3; and, taking AP Physics I, AP Calc AB, AP English Lit and AP Capstone Research (school limits to 6 AP’s and she petitioned for and was allowed to take AP Physics as her 7th). Lots of EC’s, fabulous singer (made it to second round of auditions for TV reality singing show), very strong essays and LOR’s. From the professed “holistic” standpoint that these schools claim, seems like she is a strong candidate, but the 31 ACT, while really a great score, is not great enough for OOS for these two very selective schools. Thoughts?
