<p>I think your ACT score is pretty good, though your UWGPA, like the other people are saying, is pretty low but really good essays will counter it. Not everything is based on these numbers.</p>

<p>@jvarin, my HS is in Florida. My GPA without freshman year is a 3.82. I wouldn’t say there has been an absolute upward trend, but freshman year was definitely my lowest year. </p>

<p>Then I would say you have a very good shot. Freshman year is forgivable to some extent if you have solid performance thereafter with a rigorous course load - which you do.</p>
<p>I stand by my original prognostication (trying to use up all my tea leaves). </p>
<p>Great EC’s and ACT score. If you can manage to make yourself standout on the application and get your gpa up a bit, all of those schools seem quite possible. </p>

<p>Your leadership is really good, but you don’t have any exceptional honors (state championships, science competitions, etc). Your committment and diversity in school is exceptional, but it needs the honors to have any real kick. All the other stuff (good ACT etc) are all things that people applying to Duke/NYU already have. </p>

<p>Considering you’re out-of-state with a competitive ACT but relatively low GPA, I wouldn’t call UNC a pure match like most people here are saying. It’s a little more difficult to get in than that (in my opinion). You have a good app and you should definitely get in to at least 2 (probably NYU and Florida) but the others are a little harder to gauge your chances on. Thanks a lot for chancing me!</p>
