Low GPA but decent test scores?

I have an unweighted GPA of about 3.1, and project it to be about 3.3 by the end of the school year. Weighted it's something like 3.4. I am currently enrolled in three rigorous AP classes, AP US History, AP Art History, and AP Environmental Science. I have 25 ACT and 1685 SAT, and plan to take both another time to achieve a higher scores, especially SAT. My school is a Blue Ribbon school and is very competitive, if that helps my chances at all, and I have been involved in a few extra circulars. I am currently looking at Indiana University, Ball State, University of Kentucky, University of Mississippi, Texas A&M, and University of Alabama. What are my chances of admission and what can I do to higher those chances? Are there any other schools, particularly in the Southeast US or Midwest US that I may have a shot of admission in? Thanks a bunch!

Definitely bring up your GPA and try retaking the SAT. Also, University of Minnesota is a great school and have a pretty high acceptance rate, so you can try applying there.

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely look into it!

1680 SAT- my bad…

If you can raise your SAT or ACT to a 1900/29 you’ll have a much better chance at offsetting your GPA. Also join a lot of clubs.

My thread (chance please): <a href=“Chances for Vanderbilt, UNC, NYU, UF, and Duke? - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1610985-chances-for-vanderbilt-unc-nyu-uf-and-duke-p1.html</a>

Thanks, I’ll take a look at your thread as well!

Raise your SAT or ACT, as sloth83 said. I’m not sure what grade you are in now, but if you’re in your junior or senior year, don’t bother packing you profile with ECs. Admission officers see through that easily. You should participate in competitions and think about an unique essay to wow the admission officers. Good luck!

Chance me?
