Chances for White Bread

I' m a white male from California and here are my stats.

---APPLYING ED-------

Born in Ukraine, came to US when I was three, first in family to go to college in the US. I'm not too rich, but rich enough to not need fin. aid if I can get into Princeton.

School:
-Ultra competitive public in the Bay Area.
-Probably no one else applying ED to Princeton, everyone I know is doing EA at Stanford

Tests:
-Sat - 2040 (ouch, not submitting this)
-ACT - 35
-MathIIC - 790
-Bio - 770
-Chem - 770
-One point away from NMS cutoff, counselor said that she would write that in her rec.

AP Scores:
Chem (self studied, highest level in our school is honors) - 5
Bio - 5
Stat - 5
CS AB - 4
Spanish - 4

Grades:
GPA 3.96 sophomore + junior year, only one B+ from film lit Junior Year\
Had some B's freshman year, but they don't count for Princeton
Top 4% of class of 450 people

Hardest courseload:
Junior Classes:
Analysis H
Bio AP
AP Stat
Honors English
Spanish 4AP
Engineering Tech (Robotics)
AP CS - AB

Senior Classes:
APUSH
Spanish 5AP
BC Calc
AP English
AP Physics - C
AP Econ
Engineering Tech (Robotics)

Intended Major:
Some sort of Engineering (probably Biomedical)

EC's:
-Robotics team (drivetrain) (11,12) - designed own drivetrain from scratch over the summer, 8th place regional, went to nationals. Our animation team got 1st place internationally.
-Swimming JV (9,10,11,12) - Do this to keep in shape. I'm not a natural born athelete, what can I say? Haha.
-Science Olympiad (11,12) - Founder + Engineering Leader, a few medals at the regional level
-Saturday School teacher + Volunteer at Synagogue(10,11,12) - I teach third and fourth graders
-Job as Bioinformatist at Laboratory in Stanford (12)
-250 Hours from volunteering over 10th and 11th grade summers in the VA hospital.

I speak fluent Russian and English, moderate Spanish, and am currently trying to improve my Hebrew which currently sucks.

I'm assuming really good - great recs and pretty good essays.

Chances for my dream school?

everything sounds good except for intending to major in biomedical engineering; as far as i know, princeton does not offer biomedical, and it's never good to say you want to study something the uni doesn't offer.

Great, now I'm craving white bread.

Oh, haha I thought they added it this year, I guess not. Well how about Chemical engineering then? Anyone else have an opinion?

What do you do in the lab? Anything significant, or just filing paperwork?

Um to the original poster:
SAT scores are sent automatically by the College Board. Unfortunately, you don't have the option of witholding SAT scores. However, your ACT score certainly makes up for it.

Well, I started about three weeks ago, but basically this lab is creating an online database of all genes in (insert organ here which I can't tell you about to keep this anonymous) that will eventually be used by research scientists, and I am reading hundreds upon hundreds of PubMed articles, finding relevant info for the database, and inputting it. Eventually, some of the data I input I'll get to test in stem cells, probably in a month or so.

Thanks, I certainly do hope the ACT makes up for it :p .

Me too. Here here!

The CB does NOT automatically send scores. It only sends scores if you request them, either by listing colleges for the 4 free score reports when you take the test or paying to have them sent. The only other place they will see them is on your HS transcript if you listed your HS when you took the SAT. If this is the case, you can often request your HS to remove or black out the SAT score on your transcript.

I think you have a very good chance. Here's my question: What is Analysis Honors? I always do a doubletake when I see that on someone's course list because it makes me think of college-level analysis which you obviously can't take before calculus.

You started 3 weeks ago? How much will you get done by November 1 (or January 1)? That is, will you have something substatial to show off to Princeton?

Just a question: is there a bonus ( certainly not a hook) to be the first to attend college in the US if you are an immigrant?

Maybe a little....

I wish CB would be that nice to send my scores automatically. Unfortunately, one can't always expect too much out of those people.

It's certainly not the same as being the first in your family to attend college. I think the advantage you have is by being an immagrant, but I don't thing the college history of your parents can amplify that advantage.

Basically, in my school the high level math track goes:
9th - Geometry/Alg2A
10th - Trig/Analyt H
11th - Analysis H
12th - BC Calc

In 10th grade, we are pretty much ready for BC calc, but we have this one crazy teacher who decided we should take a class called Analysis in 11th grade. Its basically a cornucopia of various math topics like basic linear algebra, vector algebra in 3d (like dot product, cross product), geometry of complex numbers, markov chains, a ton of stuff on the binomial theorem, and Calculus A. Its a hard class and forces you to think outside the box, and I honestly don't know why its called Analysis. :p I just follow the math track at our school.
