Chances getting into UF

I'm currently holding a 4.39 GPA, ranked 20 of 443, and have scored 1200 on the SAT. I've played 4 years of football, weightlifting, and have over a hundered hours of community service. I am in state and applied for Regular Decision 2. I also will be graduating high school with 28 credits from dual enrollment class. What are my chances to get into the University of Florida?

well being the son of one of the adcoms i would say youd have a great chance, tell me your name so i can tell my father to admit you right when he views your app

who is adcoms?

Tell your dad to admit me too.

Class rank, GPA looking good. SAT is a little low, but acceptable given your grades. How many APs do you have?

i didnt take any AP classes, but i took 2 Dual Credit Spanish, 2 DC American Historys, DC Algebra and Trig, and DC Composition 1 and 2

Top 5 % of every FL graduating class gets in no matter what.

really? are you sure?

Yes, but you might get summer if you applied fall. And the policy is most likely on its way out with in the next few years.

aright, thanks for the insight

has anybody else heard the same thing?

You do know that you're automatically in if you're one of the top numerical 20 of the school in the state?

Or maybe it's the top number 10...

hey ktalcott45 id say since you're my friend and we'll be sharing housing together you probably have a pretty good chance of getting in...

yea, thanx navyfag, jk

Poison Ivy, it's top 20% in your class and you're guaranteed acceptance into a state school, not necessarily the one of your choice. And I was unaware that top 5% automatically got accepted, a good friend of mine was well within the top 5% at my high school and got waitlisted (not only that, she had a 29 ACT and outstanding EC's) I think it was a fluke though, don't be discouraged.

very good chance id say

Heh, I'm guessing everyone is going to want you to drop their name now, but my application goes something like this:

3.6 (approximately) weighted GPA
1340 SAT score
100+ service hours
There's other extracurriculars, but I won't get into the lengthy details.

Anyway, my great uncle was the Dean of Agriculture at UF many years ago, so everybody tells me that I'm a shoe-in, but I'm a little wary about my low GPA than the average for UF. I'm applying early decision, I'm an in-state resident and I can assure you that there's no place I'd rather go than to UF.

I'm not applying now, though, I'll be applying in the fall of this year, so it's not far off.

By the way, send me a private message and I'll let you know my name.
