I am a sophomore in the honors program at my local 2-year college (actually one of the best in the country, look it up: Miami Dade College).
Anyways, I have a 3.58 GPA, 72 credits by the end of the current semester, a few decent EC’s (Jazz Band, community service, etc), member of PTK, excellent common app/supplemental essays, 1 meh recommendation, 1 stellar recommendation, I’m Latino, I speak English, Spanish, German (to a lesser degree), studying Mandarin Chinese in college, I have worked 22 hours/wk throughout college to support my family, and I think my EFC is around $1200.
A note about my GPA: I was a chemistry major before I switched to international affairs and the only classes I earned below an A in were either Chemistry or Calculus related ( I got a C in Calculus).
I would like some speculation as to what my chances of admission are and how much non-loan aid I might be able to receive. The thing I’m worried about most is that GWU practices “need-wary” admissions, and as you can tell by my EFC, my family doesn’t make much.
