Chances????Help!

Okay, so im a freshman in High School. And im just ending my 1st semester, my grades were not so good. They were:
Dance:A+
English:B
Health: B+
Religion: B
Biology1: A
Adv Algebra: B
Adv. Spanish1: C

I go to a private college prep school so we have a 5 point grade scale. Also I play basketball, if that helps any. My top school is NC state and I really want to go there, to become a Veterinary Neurlogist. And I feel like my chances are ruined since my GPA will be so low :( Help please!!

Your grades are good. What are you talking about? You only have one C that might mess you up a bit. But it’s nothing to worry about. Now, if you had 2 or 3 or a D or a F. Then, that would be a problem. I’m a Junior in high school. My Freshmen grades were kind of okay. I made all B’s and one C at the end of my Freshmen year and a G.P.A. of 2.6
In my Sophomore year I had a 3.4 at the end of the year. This year I have a 3.2 because of an F in only one of my classes which was a Chemistry class. I kept making all quarter and semester long, but it’s getting better now. I have a D. That’s my only bad grade. I’m also taking two honors classes.
Your Sophomore year you might want to take AP OR honors classes or go into the IB Program if you school has that. Also, take classes that are related to your career so colleges would know that your serious about becoming a Veterinary Neurlogist. Your only a Freshmen and I also heard that colleges don’t look at your Freshmen year grades. So, you shouldn’t worry to much. But you might want to keep up your good grades because it will affect your G.P.A. later on when your a Junior whether it will go up or down.
Next year I’m planning on taking AP classes.

NCSU: Get a 25+ on the ACT or 1750+ on the SAT for best chance

I’m a Junior in High School also so all I can say to you is that your fine! Freshman Year grades are just the beginning since you have three years (or 7 semesters) to work on it x) Just take the right classes, get involved and prepare for college later on and you should be fine. Your concern on this website already shows that your going to work hard for it. So don’t worry and good luck! =)
