i can't believe i'm doing this.

PLEASE RECOMMEND SAFETIES. I WILL BE VERY VERY VERY GRATEFUL

Why the heck would you go to a school with no grades if you are planning to go to colleges like those listed? Without a secondary school report, which colleges supposedly weight the greatest, nothing should be considered a given here.

the school is well known among all the colleges listed and respected. teachers write paragraphs for each kid (which function as grades) and i still have test scores and a transcript.

i have a list there. see, i sort of want to study everything. so far on applications i've written: classics, physics, romance languages, linguistics, pre-med, pre-law, engineering, architecture... i pretty much never write the same thing twice.

So you'd probably want a pretty big school that has the resources to be strong in a lot of areas? Why not try NYU, Penn State, UMich or one of the SUNYs for safeties?

yeah big, i suppose. eh, i didn't really like any of those but thank you for recommending them. i appreciate feedback :D. i live in nyc and nyu's too close, hate philly, umich is too far away (that one's an actual parental restriction)... maybe a SUNY? i don't know. do you know any more?

really i don't want to go to any safeties because i'm annoying. i think i'm applying also to umich and oberlin. do you think that's a round enough list/have more safety ideas/think i'll get in anywhere? thank you

You almost definitely will get in somewhere, but I think you should have one school which you're absolutely sure you'll get into that you wouldn't mind going to, because you really want to avoid getting rejected everywhere at all costs.

except me ;) You're a solid applicant everywhere you'll apply. You won't necessarily get into all the Ivies, since it's all really just a crapshoot for applicants like you. I think you'll get into one or two of your ivies and have a good shot at all the rest.

yeah. crapshoot. so i hear. any other safety ideas? since i've dismissed all the ones you've already given me based on minimal information. :)
ooh, and what if i throw in there yale legacy. columbia legacy. that uh.. makes it a crapshoot with minimally friendlier odds.

Not sure if UCSD is a safety out of state for you, but it's a great school and it's not that hard to get into. USC? You were saying that UMich is too far away, so I guess not though. William and Mary? University of Rochester? I really don't know that many East Coast schools--I'm from SF :p

These aren't safeties, but they're good matches for you I think--Northwestern and WashU, although these may be too far away too

i'd love to go to california. unfortunately... too far. i don't even know whose rule it was anymore, mine or my parents'... anyway, it's there. i love pomona though.

and i'm only so demanding because you're so reliable. :)

Well if it's your rule then you can change it, if it's your parent's rule then if I were you, I would sit down and have a serious talk with them about going to California if you like it so much.
