Assuming recommendations are good to excellent.
No hooks, unless a sibling currently at Harvard (undergrad) counts. I'm not sure.

Of course, I'll gladly chance back for schools I'm familiar with if you post a link.
Thanks in advance!

I think you have a decent shot but your SAT score isn’t that high. What’s the exact break down? It probably helps if you had a really high math and decent 700 verbal/writing. I think less than 700 doesn’t get taken too seriously at HYPS… I think the fact that you’ll be competition with other Asians might hurt you. Columbia’s Science program I think is helpful! Especially if it was a selective program. And getting an article published always is good if it’s scientific. What are your prospective majors?

Unfortunately I don’t see anything that really makes you stand out, which I think puts you at the 50% or so percentile with all the other great but not AMAZING! Asian applicants. It’ll be luck of the draw and interviews from there I think. I think Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and Berkeley will give your application a decent look but I think it’ll be much harder with Harvard and Wharton.

If you have time please chance me!http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1071667-chance-me-looking-ivies-other-top-schools-environmental-studies.html</a></p>

Chanced you C: Thanks for your opinion!

My SAT breakdown is 750W/730CR/720M. It’s a bit on the low side compared to the schools I applied to, but I was hoping my ACT would make up for it (35 E/R/M, 33S). The only reason I submitted it was because I got a low ACT Writing score (31) but a high SAT Writing score, or else I would have just sent in the ACT.

My prospective majors are computer science or business.

Have you applied to NYU’s Stern business school? I think you have a good shot there.

hahaha long story about that. the short version- I had my application all written and then I got my EA results back (deferred Caltech, accepted Georgetown McDonough School of Business and MIT) so my parents convinced me not to apply.

please chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1060060-colleges-im-interested-can-i-get-into.html</a></p>

HYPS-reach/mid
Wharton-mid
Berkeley-probably-- all the UCs are raising their acceptance rates for out of state students because the state is poor

Thanks! I chanced you back C:
hahaha I heard about that for Berkeley, but I also heard that there are more applicants, so not sure if that’ll help me out much.

You’ll know soon I guess

H - reach
Y - reach
P - reach/low reach
S - reach/low reach
Wharton - high match/low reach
Berkeley - match

Honestly, I would have said probably no to HYPS, but if you got into MIT there is clearly something compelling about your application. Just goes to show how worthless chancing here is!

HYPS - reach
Wharton - Low Reach
Berkeley - high match

Thanks everyone for your opinions
@2college, hahahah yeah, I’ve been told that by quite a few people XD

WHYPS = reach
Berkeley = match

you should find some school in between

Thanks for your opinion! I’ve been accepted into two other schools I’d be happy going to, so I’m not really worrying about finding other ones.

the having a sister at harvard definitely increases your chances there, burton and wharton are probably in. HYPS and Penn are difficult for anyone and nothing is definite, but i see you having a good chance there. good luck!
do me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1075778-please-chance-me-hyps-washu-mit.html</a></p>

That’s good to know about the sister thing C: Thanks so much! I’ll chance you back in a minute.

Definitely submit the ACT, it is much better than your sat. You have a good shot, best of luck with all of the schools!

chance me back please
