Essay came out good, but I’m concerned because I missed the interview deadline and now I’m worried that I’ll get rejected just because I didn’t interview. Any advice or admissions projections would be appreciated.

Do you live close enough to Bates to have interviewed? I'm sure there are people who have not interviewed and been accepted. You might get an alum to interview you.

I was kinda hoping that I could get an alum interview. I live just outside of NYC so the odds of there being an alum around might be pretty good.

Your stats are good but still average for a Bates student (except for the SAT which is better). If you live in NYC, you're definitely expected to interview. If you want an alumni interview, you should get in touch with the admissions office and request one ASAP. Without an interview and with a late application, you'll most likely get rejected.

I don't think Bates does alum interviews, although I'm not sure. I also live outside NYC, but when I call I feel like they said no alum interviews. I don't think you'll be flat out rejected...you have pretty good stats and your extras are good (although none for 4 years?). I hope everything works out for you! Good luck!

Admissions Interview Deadlines 2008-2009:
ALL deadlines for on-campus interviews have passed
Jan. 1: Early Decision II & Regular Decision applicants complete alumni interviews (Nov. 15 request deadline)
Feb. 15: Transfer applicants request alumni interview to be completed by Mar. 1

unfortunately i'd have to agree with the consensus and say the interview is gonna hurt you, a LOT. the top 2 things the bates admissions office looks at is interview and difficulty of courseload (which you have in spades). however, they place the interview so far above everything else, i'd have to say i don't know a single non-international student at bates who got in without an interview.

i'm a current batesie, and when i applied my GPA was far below bates average but stellar interview, recs, and essays got me in.

GPA: 82/100 UW, 89/100 weighted (which nevertheless put me in the top quartile of my graduating class of 55)
SAT: 710 verbal 730 math 690 writing, 2130
close to most difficult courseload offered at my school
