Chances I get into my chosen majors?

1st choice: Engineering
2nd choice: Natural Science

instate
GPA: 3.6/4.0
Rank: Top 7%
SAT: 1950 (610 R, 670 M, 680M)
ACT: will take Oct. 25 (lets say 30+)

several EC's, 1 leadership position
300+ volunteer hours

I was looking through past threads and a lot of people who got into engineering had much higher SATs, class rank, etc.

I think you're in for your second choice. Not so sure about engineering though. BTW, are you in-state?

Engineering... I doubt it to be honest. But Nat. Sciences your in for sure

yea i'm instate...

So whats chance do you think I have of getting into engineering? (percentage wise)

40% chance for engineering, 98% chance if you work hard and transfer after your first semester.

Many students who don't get into engineering can automatically transfer if they meet certain requirements. One of those requirements is a pretty steep GPA requirement for your first semester, possibly above 3.5 (basically you can get one B). I know this because summer freshman had the same offer, except their requirements were much lower... like a C in Calculus 408C and a 2.8 GPA or higher.

If you have the mindset you WILL graduate from UT with your engineering degree.

will a 30+ on my ACT increase my chances at all?

I am taking the ACT Oct. 25. They won't be making a decision before they receive my score will they? (i sent my app yesterday, but they don't have my transcript yet)

Your scores aren't terrible, and your top 10%, I don't see why engineering is a lost cause to everyone posting. Many of my friends got in engineering with worse.
